Today (May 18) I came in for my one-month follow-up and got adjustments. Because the strength of opening my eyes was different on both sides, when I went to remove the stitches (one week follow-up visit) I said they looked uneven, but they said that kind of asymmetry is not enough to correct with surgery. This time they showed me photos of another patient with swelling uneven like mine. They explained that the swelling goes down unevenly. They showed me photos of that person after two or three months. Of course the swelling went down as time passed. The double eyelid thickness is uneven on both eyes. If there are parts I don’t like or problem areas after two or three months, they said I should come in and adjust them. I was disappointed that it couldn’t be finished perfectly with the first surgery. I wanted to improve the problems at this hospital if possible, but my mind changed. I didn’t want my eyelids to cover the double eyelid line, but I didn’t want double eyelid surgery either, so after a consultation I had forehead lift + upper eye corner surgery.
But after only doing the upper canthoplasty, the Mongolian fold got worse and became hook-shaped.
Then a hollow formed in the upper eyelid, so the double eyelid got covered even more and it became harder to open my eyes.
At the Onli Eye consultation, they said front canthoplasty would improve it, but they couldn’t cut it open decisively, so it seemed like they chose upper canthoplasty. They said front canthoplasty would definitely make it look more open.
The hollowing was worse on the left, and they said if the asymmetry bothered me, I should get fat grafting. But after the surgery, the left side felt easier to open and the line looked prettier. I should have removed fat from the right side..
Anyway, on the day of surgery I met the director and went into the operation.
I was already lying on the operating table, and they said front canthoplasty would improve the hook shape but it wouldn’t disappear completely; a little would remain.
??? During the consultation they said it would open up nicely and described what it would look like if I had the surgery, but they told me this after I was already lying there;
If they had told me before surgery, I would have thought about it more.. I was stunned, but since I was already lying there and all the prep was done, I just said nothing and went ahead.
After surgery there was really almost no swelling (and I’m someone who swells easily), and even my mom was surprised when she saw me, asking how there could be so little swelling.
I like the line, but since the swelling is uneven I can’t tell how the right side, which is more swollen, will turn out.
The director doesn’t recommend a lot of extra procedures, only the parts that are clearly concerning.
It seems like they prefer a natural-looking line too. If you want a glamorous line, this place won’t suit you.
I said I wanted a semi-out style, but they made it almost in-out. When the swelling goes down, it will probably just be in..
Also, the amount of iris showing on the left and right is uneven, but they didn’t point that out during the consultation.
(I thought that if I got double eyelid surgery, the stretched skin would naturally be organized, so I didn’t ask about the asymmetry during the consultation.. Even small things, please be sure to ask..)
If only they had mentioned these small things first.. it’s a bit disappointing.
I’ll have to wait for the swelling to go down, but I’m thinking about revision surgery for the right side.
What I want is maybe a little fat removal and eye correction??
But somehow I don’t think they’ll agree to fat removal haha Still, I want to have revision surgery here rather than go somewhere else.
