I had double eyelid surgery and medial epicanthoplasty in 2020. So I can’t remember the estimate, but it was more expensive than other hospitals. The doctor seems to have a strong personal style, so it feels like he tends to operate according to his own judgment rather than exactly what the patient wants. During surgery, he wakes you once to check the eyes, and when I briefly woke up, I heard Dr. Lee Sangho say, “You try doing the left side.” I did wonder if he was training a resident during surgery, but I was under anesthesia and thought maybe I had just heard nonsense, so I didn’t ask the hospital separately. I wanted only a small inner corner opening, but he said then the eyes would not have that 80-plus look and that a beautiful eye needs to show a lot of the lacrimal caruncle, so the inner corner was opened too much. I had also asked during the pre-op consultation to make the inner corner opening small, but as a side effect of the excessive inner corner opening, I often get eye discharge and developed dry eye. I like the double eyelids, but I’m considering looking into reconstruction for the inner corner.
