I was someone who didn't really know what masseter reduction surgery was. My chewing muscles? The muscles at my square jaw were developed much more than other people's, so while others got 50 units of Botox, I needed 100 units as the baseline... They say it's done every six months, but by then I'd basically be back to square one I was looking for whether there was a really strong Botox option, and then I found out there was a procedure that actually reduces the masseter, so I went in for a consultation. The director explained everything in really detailed terms. They checked muscle volume and position first, then explained it in a way tailored to me, so it was easy to understand. They block the main nerve, and most people think that would cause functional problems, but apparently that's not the case. In fact, they said blocking the smaller nerves doesn't have much effect.. The coordinator showed me before-and-after photos of other patients, and honestly they looked like they had undergone contouring surgery, and since my case is also very developed, they said I would probably slim down a lot more than I expected, so I might be lying down for it soon..?
