I had been getting regular facial contour massage because my square jaw was a concern, but even if the soft tissue changes a little, bone doesn’t change T_T I’m pretty timid, so I couldn’t bring myself to do it for a long time, but I found a hospital that performs surgery naturally and without side effects through the area behind the ear. The director really took great care of me from the consultation all the way through surgery! I was extremely nervous right before surgery, but they helped me relax and explained everything in detail, which I appreciated. After surgery, it’s a battle with swelling. I think I swelled more because they also resected muscle and cortical bone. There was absolutely no pain! For about a week, the swelling is severe. If you want the swelling to go down faster, you need to walk a lot and apply warm compresses a lot. On the third day after surgery, when the tape came off, I could immediately see that the square jaw area was gone! After a week, the major swelling goes down. Around 2 to 3 weeks after surgery, the swelling can come down unevenly and look bumpy, which can be worrying, but it smooths out over time! During that period, just staring in the mirror can be stressful, so don’t worry and walk a lot. I also liked that when I asked the hospital about recovery and swelling, they explained everything kindly! Around 3 weeks in, people around me started saying I looked like I had lost weight. They had no idea I had surgery at all ^^ An under-jaw angle reduction done through an intraoral incision makes eating and speaking difficult and recovery is slower, but with the behind-the-ear angle reduction, eating was completely fine! At first I couldn’t open my mouth very wide, so I couldn’t eat things like sandwiches, but now I can eat everything. When I had my follow-up consultation at 3 months, they said the swelling would go down even more from here! I’m looking forward to that! My top priority was a safe, natural surgery without side effects, and I’m satisfied! Still, it’s not a minor surgery, so if you’re considering it, please decide carefully.
