Review about 1 year after surgery

0. Reason for deciding to have surgery For personal taste, I preferred a monolid, so I lived with natural eyes through my university years. But as the muscles that open my eyes gradually weakened, it reached the point where looking at a monitor at work became uncomfortable, so after thinking about it for about a year, I decided to go ahead. 1. First consultation (reason I chose this hospital) My criteria were two things. 1) Pursue a natural look (aiming for a line like model So-ra Choi) 2) Have the surgery with an incision I did a lot of in-person research at large hospitals such as those abbreviated as [Clinic A], [Clinic B], and [Clinic C], as well as hospitals famous for eye surgery, and then I got a consultation at this hospital after a recommendation from someone I know. The estimate was about twice as high as other hospitals, so it was not originally in my list. But during the first consultation, I was impressed by the doctor’s enthusiasm. The doctor’s commitment to natural results matched my own thinking, and unlike other hospitals that only drew the line, the doctor explained in detail why it should be that height and why the inner corner widening should be about that much. Above all, unlike other hospitals that were reluctant to accept the risks of incision surgery, the doctor firmly recommended incision surgery for ptosis correction, which made me trust him. It was more expensive than my budget, but I decided that for surgery on a visible part of the body, I should go to a doctor I could trust, so I chose to have surgery there, and thanks to a discount through a recommendation from an acquaintance, I was able to set the surgery date. 2. On the day of surgery Right before surgery, when the doctor was setting the double eyelid line, I asked for a lower line than the one he had drawn, and he seemed pleased. He strongly recommended a lower line. (He had chosen a low inline shape, considering that other patients tend to want higher lines, but I wanted a line closer to a very subtle inner double eyelid.) In the operating room, they paid attention to the room temperature so it was neither too hot nor too cold, and covered me with a blanket. The fish-pattern surgical cap from the doctor also helped calm my nerves. When the surgery ended, the surgical area was cleaner than I expected. Unlike other reviews saying the area would keep bleeding, I only had a few spots of blood on the day itself and scabbed over right away. 3. Swelling reduction process Without any idea of what counts as fast or slow, the recovery time was exactly what you would expect for incision double eyelid surgery. It took 6 months for the major swelling to go down, and after that the minor swelling kept going down too. It seems like it will take even more time to fully settle. Even now, about a year later, I can still see that it changes a little every month. I still feel a faint swelling in one eye. 4. Scars and minor side effects Since both the double eyelid surgery and the inner corner widening were incision procedures, I do not think it would be possible to have no scars at all. I was also worried about the small scars and looked into them a lot, but most of the scars I found were larger and more noticeable than mine. I do wonder whether things would have been different if I had had the surgery when I was younger and taken even more careful care myself. There is a 1 mm thin white scar at the inner corner and another 1 mm white scar along the double eyelid line. The inner corner scar is flat, so makeup can cover it, and the scar on the eyelid line is only visible to me when I look in the mirror. The scar line is neat, to the point that it made me think the doctor’s surgical skill must be really good. I understand that the hospital handles scar care when requested, but I first watched the progress for a year. I think the double eyelid line will fade completely with time, and I am considering a dermatology procedure for the inner corner scar. Also, because of the inner corner widening, eye discharge and foreign particles tend to get caught a bit more easily at the inner corner of the eyes. I think this is something you should be prepared to accept. 5. Satisfaction after surgery First of all, the functional issue that bothered me most was resolved, so I am satisfied. There are no side effects such as the eyes looking overly open from the ptosis correction surgery. Aesthetically too, it is so natural that people would not know unless I told them, and I am satisfied because they say I look prettier than before. The small scars are still on my mind, but I think they could not have been completely avoided from the beginning. 6. Overall review Although the price is high, for someone who pursues a natural look, I can say this is the best choice. Above all, because it is not a factory-style hospital, I am satisfied that the eye shape did not end up looking identically the same after surgery. The director’s passion and confidence in his skill are reassuring, and the follow-up care is also thorough without extra charges. I think the fact that my aesthetic preference matched the doctor’s made things even more synergistic, but if you want a flashy style, you may feel disappointed. Still, above all, the eye design really makes it look as if I never had surgery! Also, the most impressive thing when I was doing research was the consultation manager. There are many places where the manager seems to try to win a battle of nerves with the customer, or where exaggerated mechanical politeness feels uncomfortable, but the clear explanations and the way they offered a discounted price within what they could do felt professional and impressive. If I went back, I would have the surgery at this hospital again.
