Conclusion: If you’re planning to get two or more areas done, and different clinics are better at each area, doing two procedures in one day may be worth considering!? It was less exhausting than I expected
I’m male, and this time I had eye surgery in the morning (10:30 AM-12:30 PM), then went to another clinic and had nose surgery in the afternoon (3:30 PM-6 PM). I don’t think there are many cases like mine, so I’m writing this to share information. It’s now day 6, and my splint hasn’t been removed yet, so please understand that I don’t have photos yet..!
○ Surgery schedule
1. Eyes (10:30 AM-12:30 PM) - natural adhesion double eyelid + non-incisional ptosis correction + under-eye fat removal <2.5-hour break> 2. Nose (3:30 PM-6 PM) - nasal bridge + nasal tip + nostril reduction
○ Why I did two procedures in one day
1. If I do them separately, the total recovery period doubles. I’d have to stop working out for two months, and as a baby gym beginner I can’t handle the muscle loss 2. I narrowed it down to two final clinics, and no matter how much I compared cost-effectiveness and reviews, one clinic had more merit for eyes, while the other had more merit for the nose 3. All the doctors I consulted said it was okay to split it between morning and afternoon and get two procedures in one day
○ Things to be careful about when doing two procedures in one day!!!
1. Avoid duplicate medications Especially, you must not take double the antibiotics. Your white blood cells will all die In general, nose surgery has a greater concern for inflammatory complications, so you can take the medication based on the prescription from the clinic where you had the nose surgery.
Other than this, there honestly isn’t much else to be careful about Maybe just that the order should be eyes > nose? Because you can’t have eye surgery while wearing a nasal splint!
○ Questions I asked the doctors + things I was curious about + things others may be curious about
Q. Is it okay to receive sedation anesthesia twice in one day? (This scared me the most, but the doctors didn’t seem worried about this at all) A. Roughly combining what they told me, sedation anesthesia itself is not something where they put in the medication once at the beginning and you stay asleep all the way through, even if you’re having surgery at one clinic. If you stop breathing in the middle, they may wake you up and then put you back to sleep again, and for example, even at one clinic, they definitely wake you up midway during eye surgery to mark the line, then put you back to sleep for nose surgery. So from the start, it’s not really just receiving sedation twice; you end up falling asleep and waking up more times than that...! Since the total surgery time is almost the same whether you do it at one clinic or split it between two clinics, they said the amount of anesthetic going into your body in one day is ultimately the same, and there’s nothing problematic about it
(Caution: This does not mean sedation anesthesia itself has no side effects, no problems, and is harmless. It means that splitting sedation anesthesia between two clinics is not very different from doing it continuously at one clinic!!!)
Q. How do you move to the next clinic after the surgery is over?
A. I walked! It was just like going home after a sedated endoscopy. (Both clinics are at Gangnam Station and 5-10 minutes apart)
Q. Does swelling double, or does pain double, or anything like that?
A. No lol I’ve been diligent with eye compresses, so it’s fine. Both clinics gave me things like compress packs, so it was actually nice because I had twice as many
Q. Still, were there any inconvenient parts or anything like that?
A. Instead of going home after the morning surgery, I had to lie sprawled out in the recovery room, then go to another clinic and lie on the operating table again? At that clinic I had to fill out consent forms and all that again But I honestly wasn’t tired at all because what I had in the morning wasn’t a major surgery. If they had cut the eyes a lot and done something more intense, it might have been hard?
