Writing with initials. These are just places I personally didn’t like; others may feel differently. Overall, none of them were the absolute worst, but I’m listing the points that made me rule them out because one or two things bothered me. There was no issue with the clinics at all, just my own preferences. It may also be because of my eye condition.
I’m a man in my mid-to-late 30s considering ptosis correction and medial epicanthoplasty.
1. ㅇㅈ near Gangnam Station I went because I heard it was famous for men. I don’t know the doctor; the consultant said she would arrange someone who specializes in male cases. It was the weekend. The doctor did seem experienced. They said they were known for non-incisional surgery, but after seeing my eyes, they said I needed an incisional + non-incisional hybrid. They said it would be better not to do epicanthoplasty. ㅡ I want a slight epicanthoplasty, and if the hybrid comes undone later, I feel like it would end up neither here nor there, so I ruled it out.
2. ㅇㅇㅇ Plastic Surgery in Apgujeong, Dr. ㅈㄴ It was mentioned a lot in female-dominated communities, and I found out about it through the Gangnam Unni app. I went after seeing an event, but when I got there, there were so many people, especially middle/high schoolers and college students packed in. I was connected with a consultant for male-specialized cases, and I remember her name because it was unusual. The doctor looked exactly around my age. I could see passion and meticulousness, but he seemed somewhat hesitant and thought a lot. My impression was that my eyes were difficult compared to his skill level. He also said the surgery time would be longer than other clinics. ㅡ I didn’t find it very trustworthy. They also said the anesthesia would be general anesthesia, and when I looked into it, other clinics advised against that, so I passed.
3. ㅋㅅㅌ at Gangnam Station, single-director clinic This was the only consultation where fat removal was mentioned for the first time. They said non-incisional surgery would be enough and that the double-eyelid line could be done according to my needs. (?) They said they could do a good job by combining upper and medial epicanthoplasty, so I trusted their aesthetic sense and hand skills, but no matter how much I think about it, their insistence on non-incisional surgery and fat removal, considering consultations at other clinics too, just doesn’t seem right for me.
4. ㄷㅇㅇ at Yeoksam Station I was lured in by an ad on the Gangnam Unni app.. That’s where I went. It felt like a factory-style clinic. I don’t know who the doctor was. He was very thin, gaunt, and somewhat older. He said I was borderline between incisional and non-incisional surgery and asked what I preferred. When I said I was considering both, he listened and then said to go with non-incisional and to keep in mind that it could come undone. ㅡ I didn’t trust it.
