(Eyes + Nose) Exposing conscientious doctors!

I had surgery at a face-off level 8-9 years ago = double-jaw surgery, 3 types of facial contouring, eyes, nose (bridge + tip + osteotomy), submental liposuction

I lived satisfied, but after about 10 years, my appearance complex started creeping back up, so I decided on eye + nose surgery (+ contouring, nasolabial folds). So I diligently read posts in a community and visited 16 clinics in person.

Among the 16 clinics, several gave me plastic surgery estimates over 10 million won, while some firmly told me not to do it or recommended only minimal surgery. Only 6 clinics discouraged surgery or recommended minimal surgery.

Honestly, I don’t think it’s necessarily bad to recommend surgery when the patient themselves says they want it. But I’m writing this because I truly hope the doctors who gave up profit and woke me up from being trapped in appearance obsession do well.

1. Director Kim Hyun-joo at DA "There is no need to follow trendy nose shapes. It doesn’t look strange even now." "For the eyes, just do double eyelid surgery. Non-incisional." Even though I wanted all kinds of expensive surgeries, she smiled and coolly explained why those surgeries were not necessary. Felt like a friendly older brother.

2. Directors Jang Yu-jin and Choi Hang-seok at Premier Choi Hang-seok "Don’t do your nose. Paranasal augmentation probably won’t suit you either." Jang Yu-jin "You don’t really need to do your eyes either. Even if you do, just double eyelid surgery." "When you reach your 40s, do a forehead lift then." Both of them genuinely recommended what would be good from the patient’s perspective, and even recommended procedures that their own clinic does not perform.

3. Director Kim Han-sung at Kim Han-sung Plastic Surgery "If you do your eyes, your impression will become greasy. Don’t do it." Even though it is a clinic specializing in revision eye surgery, he refused to do eye surgery. He gave up profit and worried about the patient’s appearance. Other clinics even recommended epicanthoplasty, lateral canthoplasty, and widening in all directions, but he firmly spoke according to his principles.

4. Director Kim Hyung-taek at Kowon "Your nose is already in its best possible condition." "I do not recommend revision surgery for a minimal effect." Even though it is a clinic specializing in revision nose surgery, he refused to do nose surgery. He also gave up profit and worried about the patient’s appearance. Other clinics recommended everything from replacing the nasal implant, alar reduction, to using costal cartilage, but he spoke according to his principles.

5. Director Park Byung-joo at Ione "The distance between your eyebrows and eyes is already narrow. I do not recommend eye surgery." "A forehead lift would be fine after you are at least over 40." Not only did he give up profit and discourage surgery, he also recommended a surgery he himself does not perform, and kindly but carefully answered various questions that were somewhat unrelated to eye surgery. Among the doctors I met, he was the calmest and most considerate.

6. Director Lee Kyung-mook at Objet "Don’t do your nose. There isn’t much room for improvement." "For the eyes, let’s leave out ptosis correction. Double eyelid surgery alone is enough." He discouraged every surgery except double eyelid surgery for a patient who said they wanted both eye and nose surgery. He also gave up profit and suggested a reasonable alternative for the patient.

In total, I consulted 19 doctors at 16 clinics, and all of them were kind. But among them, I wrote this because I hope the 7 doctors at the 6 clinics above all do well.

If you end up doing surgery that you don’t need, no matter how well it turns out, it is still a loss. The doctors above seem to be doctors who don’t do surgeries that don’t need to be done, and only do surgeries that can actually help one’s appearance.
