My eyelids always had way too much fat and my lids were sagging, so it had been a complex about me. After three years of eyelid tape, I finally had an incisional double-eyelid surgery at a hospital in Gangnam!! For now, I’ll just leave my thoughts right before and right after the surgery.
My consultation with the director wasn’t long, probably because the line I wanted was already very clear in my mind ㅋㅋㅋ I showed photos, he checked by creating the fold himself, and when I said I liked it, it ended neatly. There wasn’t anything especially good or disappointing about it. But I do remember that the consultation coordinator was really kind! Not just the coordinator, but the front desk staff and the nurses were all kind too. I haven’t exactly visited a ton of places, but among the clinics I went to, this one was the kindest, so I was immediately drawn to it.
I didn’t choose this hospital because it looked especially good. I was also in a hurry because I wanted to get the double-eyelid surgery done before school started, and after searching a lot online, it didn’t seem to have any glaring issues, so I picked it quickly. After getting it done, I do think I was lucky? I feel like I picked a good place.
Before the anesthesia, they gave me a swelling injection first, and my groin area stung so, so, so muchㅠ I think that hurt more than the surgery itself ㅋㅋㅋㅋ They did sedation anesthesia, but I didn’t fall completely asleep. I got hazy and, with my eyes closed, felt like I was seeing all kinds of hallucinations. (They were playing classical music in the operating room, so the atmosphere was even more insane... anyway, it was fun.) The local anesthesia in my eyes worked properly, so it didn’t hurt, but I could feel everything when they pulled at the skin, cauterized it, and stitched it up.
Two or three hours after the surgery, the surgical area started throbbing quite a bit, but by the time I went to sleep it was okay. While the swelling was severe, the mucous membrane was everted and my eyes wouldn’t close all the way, so they were extremely dry, and every time I practiced opening my eyes, it felt like the stitches were about to burst, which was really uncomfortableㅠㅠ But even that has gotten much better now on day 4. In short, the pain lasted only for a few hours on the day of surgery, and the major discomfort seems to have been only until day 3. I still feel a bit tight because of the stitches, but once they’re removed on day 7, I think it’ll feel incredibly refreshing
