Cheekbone Surgery Reviews@cheekbone-review

2-week review after 2.5 types of facial contouring (cheekbones, square jaw, masseter)

It’s been 2 weeks since I had surgery! I don’t have much fat on my face, and I was definitely the type with developed bone structure. I had been worried about my face shape since I was young because of my naturally prominent cheekbones and square jaw, so I saved up money, went for consultations this time, and had surgery at Note.

Before consultations, I looked at reviews on different sites, checked hospital official websites, and narrowed it down to about 4-5 hospitals. Then, after going to consultations in person and considering things like which director’s style would suit me best, I chose the hospital.

I felt like there was no real need to do my chin, but I definitely wanted to do my cheekbones and square jaw, so in the end I had cheekbone reduction, square jaw reduction, cortical osteotomy, and masseter muscle resection. The director also recommended 2 types more than 3 types.

Right after surgery, it wasn’t extremely painful, but feeling like I was going to throw up was a bit hard. My throat hurt like COVID, and when it was dry I coughed a little. I had no bruising at all on my face around the surgical areas, only a little under my neck, but it quickly turned yellow and disappeared. I had bought bruise cream in advance, but I didn’t need it. I had sensation everywhere, but the areas that felt a bit dull were under my eyes, my lower lip, and my chin area.

The swelling kept getting worse until day 3, and after that it started going down. My mouth and the inside of my mouth were very swollen, so my teeth hurt a bit, but the pain disappeared as the major swelling went down. And maybe because I had masseter resection, my jaw sometimes hurt like it was cramping, but that went away around days 8-9! Until I got the cheekbone stitches removed in week 1, I mostly ate New Care and porridge. When the cheekbone stitches were removed, it didn’t hurt at all, but removing the taping attached to my face hurt a little. From week 1 to week 2, I ate more porridge, and also had New Care, castella, steamed eggs, pudding, and so on.

I usually don’t swell much, but personally I had never had my face swell this much before, so I thought I was very swollen. When I went in for care at week 1, I asked the person taking care of me whether I was on the more swollen side, and they said no, so I was like, hmm, maybe not. But the swelling definitely went down quickly after the stitches were removed in week 1. My lips had gotten so huge they felt like they were going to burst, but maybe because applying lip balm is a habit for me, my lips didn’t crack or get chapped.

When the intraoral stitches were removed in week 2, it did hurt a bit, but it wasn’t pain I couldn’t tolerate. I can open my mouth wide enough to fit one finger.

I still have swelling, and my sensation hasn’t returned 100%, but the director said the surgery was done cleanly and well, so I’m going to wait and see.

The post-op photos are from exactly day 14. If you have any questions, please leave them☺️
