Because my outer eye corners were slightly upturned, I thought canthoplasty would make my eyes look much more open. Not only do they look more open, but my entire face looks much gentler.
I heard many people struggle with conjunctival edema when having their stitches removed, so I was nervous too, but the surgeon operated well and I had none of that. I was also surprised that there was less swelling than expected. Until the stitches were removed, the foreign-body sensation was slightly uncomfortable, but after removal it felt so refreshing.
Makeup does contribute somewhat, but when I wear makeup my eyes look much bigger, so applying makeup is more fun too. The cost of canthoplasty varies greatly. High-volume clinics are certainly cheaper, but honestly I did not trust them, so I wanted it done properly even if it cost more. I found a well-known clinic and had surgery there, and I think it was a very good choice. If you have narrow-looking eyes like mine and prefer a gentle image, I definitely recommend canthoplasty.
