As my mom entered her late 50s this year, she started spending much more time looking in the mirror. She was not like that before, but her eyelids kept drooping and irritating her eyes, and the area under her eyes looked both puffy and hollow, so she said she looked tired every night. As her daughter, it really weighed on me, so I tried to look into dermatology treatments or simple procedures, but Mom always firmly refused, saying it was a waste of money. But recently, after seeing family photos taken at a gathering with relatives, she quietly sighed that she alone looked so old. That really hit me hard T_T I decided I could not leave things as they were, so this time I resolved to take her there even if I had to insist, and started my filial cosmetic-surgery project lol. Middle-aged surgery cannot be excessive; it has to look truly natural. So I searched this community and tons of reviews for several weeks. I was especially worried about side effects and problems closing the eyes, so I considered the surgeon’s aesthetic sense and experience most important. Then I found that Dr. Hwang Ho at [Clinic A] recommended only the surgery she truly needed without pushing unnecessary procedures, and had a good reputation for middle-aged patients. I secretly made an appointment before telling Mom, then tricked her into going by saying we were going shopping that weekend lol. After examining Mom, the doctor said her drooping eyelids were because she had been opening her eyes using her forehead muscles. He set a clear plan: naturally lift the eyelids with a brow lift and refine the puffy under-eye fat with lower blepharoplasty, which would make her look much more refreshed and feel more comfortable. At first Mom waved it off, saying she was scared, but the doctor explained everything calmly and focused only on the necessary areas. Perhaps that reassured her, because she said, “Should I try it?” lol. In her preoperative photos, there were shadows and puffy fat under her eyes, while her upper eyelids were drooping, making her look tired overall and giving a somewhat heavy impression. It has now been about two weeks since surgery. Even allowing for swelling, she definitely looks far more refreshed than before, and I am so proud T_T Thanks to the brow lift, her formerly weighed-down upper eyelids are raised, so she says opening her eyes is much easier, and her forehead contour looks neater too. With the under-eye fat and dark shadows refined through lower blepharoplasty, the area around her eyes looks brighter and her overall appearance is more radiant lol. Mom recently went to a gathering with her friends, and she said everyone made a fuss asking where she had gotten treatment because her appearance had improved so much. Seeing how happy Mom is makes me think I should have taken her sooner, and I am so glad I did this for her T_T
