Eye Surgery Reviews

My first-ever cosmetic surgery… under-eye fat repositioning… a devastating detailed review while looking into revision surgery!!!!! T_T Essential reading before under-eye fat surgery!!!

[Under-eye fat repositioning] Surgery on 5/27 → touch-up at 3 months → second touch-up on 8/28; current progress. Hello. I am normally too lazy to write reviews like this, but I am now four months post-op and looking for a revision clinic. I am writing as honestly as possible about what I personally went through, hoping no one else has to suffer emotionally while looking into revision surgery only months after their operation. I underwent under-eye fat repositioning with [Doctor A] at [Clinic A] at 10 a.m. on May 27. As this was my first surgery ever, I researched extensively. I looked into many clinics: Giraffe / Heat / Pleasure / Our / Sinsael / Drama / Lienjang / Brown / Thank You / ID / Your Time / Ritting / Pop / Eight / ST / Oskin / Start. I also considered lower blepharoplasty together with under-eye fat surgery; concerned about an incision and scar, I accepted the possibility of fine wrinkles and chose under-eye fat surgery. My priorities in selecting a clinic were: it should not be excessively cheap; I wanted to avoid a factory-style clinic; I avoided places that offered a deal if I left a deposit immediately; a system with roughly one to three surgeons; good postoperative care and accountability; and, above all, a place that performs under-eye fat surgery frequently and well. I never thought my face was perfect, nor did I expect perfection. I only wanted the tear troughs under my eyes to improve naturally and not to look tired without makeup. I chose [Clinic A] because it provided many explanations about under-eye fat surgery on YouTube and I believed it specialized in the procedure. After hearing the explanation during my consultation, I trusted it and decided to have surgery. ⸻ 📌 May 27: surgery My work involves meeting and talking with many people, so I allowed about two weeks for recovery. I slept sitting up for ten days and do not drink or smoke at all. I followed the clinic's precautions as closely as possible, beyond what was asked. I had no severe bruising and almost no bloody tears. There was bleeding once on the left side, but when I visited the clinic, I was told it was fine. At that point, I truly thought the operation had gone very well. T_T I was excited about becoming prettier. T_T I looked in the mirror every day, hoping and hoping. T_T ⸻ 📌 One month As the swelling went down, my two eyes gradually began to look different. ⸻ 📌 Two months On the left, the tear trough began to show again as it had before surgery. On the right, an indentation developed in another area where there had not been one before. Ultimately, the two sides came to look different. I returned to the clinic. I was told, “It is better than it was,” and they opened the preoperative photos to show me. “Let’s watch it a little longer.” “Let’s reassess at about three months and do a fat-grafting touch-up.” I was honestly taken aback. I had not undergone surgery merely expecting a slight improvement; naturally, I had expected the under-eye area to improve through surgery. ⸻ 📌 Three months At three months, I went for the touch-up. But my left eye had become even worse and looked as though it was returning to its preoperative state. I told the clinic manager, “How is this any different from before the surgery?” and was connected with the doctor. I will write as closely as possible what I remember from the conversation. Doctor: “It is better than before.” “If you wanted to eliminate the tear trough completely, you should have had lower blepharoplasty.” However, during my preoperative consultation, I discussed both lower blepharoplasty and under-eye fat surgery. Because I was concerned about the incision and scars of lower blepharoplasty, I heard the explanation and chose under-eye fat surgery. So, hearing three months after surgery, “If you wanted to eliminate the tear trough completely, you should have had lower blepharoplasty,” was upsetting. I said that people were asking what was wrong with my eyes and saying one side in particular looked strange, and that I was under enormous stress. Me: “I am extremely stressed every time I look in the mirror.” Doctor: “There are individual differences; if you want, I can perform revision surgery.” “It may improve if we remove a little fat.” (from the bulging area) Me: “Wouldn’t removing fat make it more hollow?” Doctor: “Of course it could. It could improve, or it could become hollow. You have to choose.” (Me…?? -_-) I was then told that rather than operating again immediately, we should look at it again after about six months. Honestly, I was left speechless there. ⸻ 📌 August 28: second touch-up I ultimately received a second fat-grafting touch-up on August 28. It has now been about ten days. But another area now appears to be becoming hollow. One side is hollow, while the other has an indentation… I am very stressed every time I look in the mirror. There is also something I personally find hardest to understand. They said revision surgery to remove fat could be performed, so why did I pay an additional fee for fat grafting? I understood the fat grafting was intended to compensate for dark circles looking more pronounced because my skin is thin, but my dark circles now appear worse. T_T Of course, it has only been about ten days since the touch-up, so I will wait longer for the final result. However, at only four months after surgery, I am already researching revision clinics even more extensively than I did before my first surgery. Since they say they will revise it, should I just do it because the original surgeon knows it best? T_T But honestly, I am scared. T_T ⸻ 📌 Why I am leaving this review While looking for under-eye fat surgery reviews, I felt that many before-and-after photos looked perfect. (I think that may be because of discounts contingent on writing a review.) So I attached unedited bare-face photos and the actual progress over time as fully as possible. (Paid for entirely by me!) Surgery on 5/27 → one month → two months → three months → second touch-up on 8/28 → now. I recorded the times and dates as accurately as possible. If there is anything I recorded incorrectly, I will include that too, and I plan to keep updating the progress. I hope this helps even a little anyone who, like me, is emotionally devastated by unsatisfactory results and is researching revision clinics only months after surgery. This is a self-funded review based on my own direct experience. Because of the current photo-upload limit, it is difficult to upload more photos. However, if you leave a comment or send a private message, I will share as much detail as possible from the photos and progress I have from before surgery through the present. I hope what I experienced can give someone an opportunity to double-check when choosing a clinic before surgery. I will continue updating my progress after the touch-up. I plan to leave reviews on Naver Place, Naver Blog, this community, Yeouya, and Gangnam Unni as well. Conversely, if anyone had revision surgery because their result was poor or unsatisfactory, or had a successful revision, please help me. T_T Please, T_T Email: [email protected]
