I came to share my before and after!
There is still some minor swelling next to my nostrils and around the corners of my mouth. After surgery, my philtrum looked flat as if it had sunk in, so I was worried something had gone wrong with the surgery, but the volume is gradually filling back in! I worried a lot because of this, but it improved a lot around days 55-58.
At the 1-month mark, I was worried because my lips looked smaller, but once the swelling went down, they returned to their original size. They said they would become about 85% of their original size during surgery, but I personally do not feel a big difference compared with before.
I had a retruded chin, so I had chin filler in place (in 2017), but even after getting dissolving injections, it did not dissolve 100%ㅠㅠ There is still a little left at the tip of my chin.
Those with a protruding mouth will probably relate, but when you have a blank expression, you hear people ask if you are angryㅠㅠ a lot. As I got older and lost cheek fat, it became more noticeable, so I decided to have surgery. My gums showed a lot when I smiled, and after seeing before-and-after photos from the clinic where cases just like mine improved a lot, I decided to have surgery there.
I took 20 days off work, and at first my speech was slurred, so if possible I think it would be good to take about a month off. Also, I was worried that if my mouth was set back, the space inside my mouth would become narrower and it would be uncomfortable to place my tongue, but on the contrary, placing my tongue became more comfortable. Before, my palate was somewhat sloped (maybe because the gums came down?), but after surgery it became flatter, so my tongue position actually became more comfortable. This probably differs from person to person, but for me, it actually feels wider now.
I started practicing using my front teeth a week ago, and although there is no sensation, it does not hurt. When I touch my gums, I have sensation in the gums, but it is interesting that I do not feel sensation when chewing. (I can feel dental nerve sensations like tooth sensitivity.)
People around me are amazed and say my face looks smaller and youngerㅋㅋㅋㅋ My face size is the same, but since the volume around my mouth is gone, it must look smaller. They say I look around my mid-20s (I am 33).
For the chin-tip surgery, I still feel a sensitive, chilly sensation when I touch it. It is not painful, more like about 20% of the tooth sensitivity you feel when eating something cold?? I am washing my face very carefully. Even if I put the showerhead directly on it, it does not hurt, but somehow I end up being careful. The intraoral incision area still feels tight.
