All hospitals are pretty much the same As long as the doctor isn’t someone with very little experience and is a chief-director-level doctor with a reasonable amount of experience, their skills are mostly similar, and you can’t judge based on consultations or online research alone
Aesthetic standards differ from person to person Most people share a general idea of what a pretty nose is, but that range is too wide With the nose, even a 1 mm difference can change the impression of the face a lot Even if the nose the doctor creates is pretty, it may not suit my overall facial features or impression In my case, my natural nose wasn’t particularly low or high, but my columella was slightly retracted, so it was a bulbous nose that gave a slightly upturned-nose impression The opinions all differed, from “let’s raise it and make it more defined” (in this case, the nostrils show more) to “let’s lower it slightly so the nostrils show less” For silicone too, opinions ranged from saying no implant would be possible, to placing a thin 1 mm layer, to definitely raising it by 4 mm
Even when looking at the same photo, their standards of judgment differ Looking at the exact same nose photo, one doctor said it was round, while another said it was sharp I showed them a photoshopped version of my face photo with the nasal width and nasal alar area reduced; Doctor A focused only on the nasal ala and maybe barely looked at the nasal width, and said it was possible like the photo, while Doctor B told me reducing the nasal width was impossible I paid a deposit after listening to Doctor A, but after hearing what Doctor B said at the next clinic I visited, I ultimately decided to give up on surgery
The more places you visit, the more conscientious and unconscientious clinics get filtered out Because conscientious clinics tell you the downsides of surgery that unconscientious clinics do not tell you But even unconscientious clinics don’t only speak positively; they do mention downsides, but when it comes to fatal disadvantages that might make you not want the surgery if they told you, they either don’t mention them, or even if you ask, they brush it off by saying that much is fine or can be adjusted
Other people’s before-and-after photos are meaningless Everyone has different nose shapes and skin thicknesses Because even one difference can hugely change what is possible When they show similar cases, they only show successful photos (this is the most dangerous part... it’s easy to be swayed) At the last clinic, they showed me photos of cases with less improvement, so I was able to judge (The other clinics also told me there might be less improvement, but none of them showed photos, so I had kept holding onto hope and going around to consultations)
At the 11th clinic, they spoke positively, so I paid a deposit, but at the 12th clinic they showed me photos where the improvement was limited, so my mind changed toward not having surgery
Still, I get stressed every time I look in the mirror, so I haven’t completely given up. For now I’m going to diet first, and if I still keep feeling stressed, I’m considering doing it later... ㅠㅠ
