Before-before after-after It will soon be one month, and this time I’m going to leave a photo review. I looked up a ton of reviews, but cheekbone reviews are definitely rarer than eyes or noses...ㅠㅠ So I thought I should work hard to leave a review for people like me... I have a peanut-shaped face, so I was recommended the full 3-part facial contouring, but I’m easily scared, so I only did the cheekbones. In my day-2 review, I said people who do all 3 facial contouring procedures are amazing, but after time passed, I realized. If I had been unemployed too, I would have done my jaw as well... I found this out later, but with cheekbone surgery you have to be extremely careful about what you eat, whereas with the jaw, after a little time passes, they say you can eat whatever you want ㅎ Anyway, I’ll briefly summarize by recovery stage and share my experience.
Day of surgery: They say some people do well with general anesthesia, but first of all, I wasn’t one of them. My cheekbones didn’t hurt, but because of the anesthesia I felt nauseous, so I lay down all day. My face just felt numb, like it had been beaten up really badly. The swelling was severe, but because I was wearing the compression band, I couldn’t really feel that it was swollen. By nighttime, my stomach felt a bit better, and that’s when my appetite came back ㅎ My mouth wouldn’t open, and the swelling inside my mouth was so severe that I ate a little soup and slept. I don’t really like porridge, so I had only bought corn soup, but I ended up eating it well over and over. My throat pain wasn’t extremely painful; my voice just wouldn’t come out and it felt slightly uncomfortable. For me, it was fine starting the next day.
Day 1 after surgery: I saw the CT the next day, and it was amazing ㅎ When I first saw the CT of my cheekbones, I thought, “Isn’t that just normal cheekbone?” but when I saw it together with the post-op image, I thought, “So my cheekbones were big...” But my swelling was a bit uneven. The right side was more swollen, and the left side was barely swollen. When I told the director, he said it like it wasn’t anything serious, so I just let it pass.
Day 3 after surgery: For aftercare, until day 4 I had to get intraoral disinfection and antibiotics, so I went to the hospital without missing a day. The disinfection was okay, but getting injections 4 days in a row was hard ㅎ Anyway, I suddenly had a video meeting then, so I wore a mask, a hat, glasses, and covered a lot with my hair... I was really flusteredㅠㅠ From this point, cheek hollowing appeared, but the hospital said it would get better with time. Also, I only ate soup, and when I got disinfected, they complimented me that it was very clean ㅎ The swelling was uneven, and bruising also only appeared on the side with worse swelling.
Week 1: At this time, I ate porridge, bread, snacks, ice cream, and things like that. A lot of swelling had gone down, but it still didn’t feel like my face. I was lucky I worked from home all the way through week 1. Because of the swelling inside my mouth, it was still hard to eat, and my face was round.
Week 2: Around this time I had to go to work, and if I wore a mask, people couldn’t tell I had surgery. As the swelling moved downward, my already square jaw became even more square, and the yellow bruising also moved down toward my jaw, but that also disappeared over time. From this point, I started eating a bit ㅎㅎ I wanted ramen so badly, but I was scared, so I ate Cup Noodles. But Cup Noodles are the best. If you want ramen, eat Cup Noodles! And until week 2, I really worried a lotㅠㅠ My face looked so unchanged that every night I looked up reviewsㅠㅠ I wondered if I was the only one with no effect.
Week 3: I finally took off my mask around people near me. But everyone’s eyes looked kind of strange... The swelling that looked like I was holding candy in my mouth had disappeared, and maybe because the surgical area is toward the front, only the front is plump. But I like this, so I kind of hope it doesn’t disappearㅠㅠ It’s a moderate amount of volume. Also, my side cheekbones were so convex that I was worrying whether this was swelling or not, but from week 3, I could see the side cheekbone area gradually going down too. It’s still a little convex, but I guess facial contouring really is a matter of timeㅠㅠ First of all, the 45-degree angle benefits from swelling too, but it’s round and smooth, so I like it! When I was unsure, the moment I still felt surgery was worthwhile was when I wore a baseball cap. Originally, baseball caps didn’t suit me because of my cheekbonesㅋㅋㅋ But even when I wore a cap, my cheekbones didn’t stick out beside the cap! That’s when I thought, “Still, a lot of cheekbone is gone.” For eating, I ate only the fatty part of jokbal, and I ate pizza except for the crust and things like that. Especially noodles are easy to eat, so I eat them best! There were reviews saying there was sound or pain when eating, but I didn’t have that! I did have a feeling like the muscles were clumping, but it never hurt or made sounds, and the cheek hollowing was still bad some days and better other days, different every day. But it seems like it has disappeared a lot?
Other reviews also talked about cheekbone sensation, but for me, sensation was 100% from the day of surgery, so that was interesting! I want the remaining minor swelling to go down quickly and become even smoother! But why do my reviews get this long whenever I write them... I have no idea ㅎ
