<Usual condition before surgery (please excuse the tilted photo!)><What I was concerned about before surgery>First of all, this is my first time writing a post like this, so please excuse any awkwardness :) This is about the consultations I had at the end of December last year.
I originally have double eyelids, but my concern was that when I’m not in good condition or when I’m tired, multiple creases form like in the attached photo! I wanted the non-incisional buried suture method because the recovery period is relatively quick, and since the white of my eyes near the inner corners doesn’t show well and my eyes seemed to look close-set, I was also considering epicanthoplasty.
ㅂ (visited through an acquaintance’s recommendation) They said the reason the multiple creases form is “because there isn’t enough fat in the upper eyelids.” In conclusion, they recommended buried suture double eyelid surgery + fat grafting. They explained that this is usually a symptom that appears as upper eyelid volume is lost with aging, so it is not commonly seen in people around my age, and there were also fewer reviews about fat grafting. They said it could become uneven as a side effect, but they would redo it up to 3 times. I didn’t know why the multiple creases were forming, so I liked that they explained it in detail. I also liked that they didn’t just look at my eyes, but gave the consultation while considering harmony with my face. I had been thinking a lot about whether to get canthoplasty, but they did not recommend it, saying that because my pupils are on the large side, the space at the front of my eyes only looks insufficient, and that overall my eyes are not actually close-set.
ㅇㅅㅇ (visited through an acquaintance’s recommendation) I asked why multiple creases form and what kind of surgery would be best, but they didn’t explain the cause, and fat grafting wasn’t even a consideration. It felt like they were simply saying, “I’ll definitely make you pretty with buried sutures like your friend who recommended us~,” so that was disappointing. It is a very famous hospital and the consultant was kind, so if I had only been planning a simple buried suture procedure, it might have been different, but after my first consultation, I was thinking carefully about which surgical method to choose, so I passed.
ㅌㅇㅍ (visited through an acquaintance’s recommendation) Usually at the previous plastic surgery clinics, the consultant would listen to what I was concerned about and only go as far as saying, “We’ll have to consult in detail, but it’s probably like this.” Unlike other hospitals, before I even brought it up, they first explained why multiple creases form while drawing diagrams, and also told me that my eye-opening strength was weak, so I felt they were very professional. After the previous two consultations, I had been debating between fat grafting and the buried suture method, and instead of saying, “You absolutely have to do this method!!,” they explained the pros and cons of each method and said, “Because of that, I recommend this method~,” so I was satisfied. Also, for the canthoplasty I had been considering, they firmly told me not to do it for the same reason as ㅂ Plastic Surgery, so I was able to make up my mind clearly.
