Before before after after after after after afterHello I came to post my 3-month review after alar reduction surgery. I definitely felt there was a difference between 1 month and 3 months. From right after surgery to 1 month, there was still a lot of swelling, and the dissolvable suture area inside the nostril wings felt hard, so it did feel somewhat awkward, but now that more than 3 months have passed, it has definitely become more natural.
Alar reduction surgery was my first cosmetic surgery ever... and now I think I understand why, when cosmetic surgery goes well, you want to get other areas done too haha. A part that had been a lifelong complex disappeared after enduring about 3 months, so I feel more confident about my face, and aside from the money, my satisfaction is high.
Soon there will be many places where masks are no longer required indoors, so I’ll be taking mine off more often. The swelling from my alar reduction surgery is gone and it looks so natural now, so I’m not afraid to take off my mask haha. Of course, just getting my nostril wings done didn’t make me have a pretty face, but at least the part I lacked confidence in is no longer embarrassing, and that’s what I like most. Maybe because I was very nervous and worried it would fail, my satisfaction with my nostril wings now is really high, but the nose spreading when I smile is not corrected, so I hope you consider your own facial width and face shape when thinking about alar reduction surgery.
At around the 3-month mark, I met up with friends the most. At first I didn’t say anything, then midway I asked, “Is there anything different about me?” At first, they said that as soon as I took off my mask, they had thought to themselves, did she lose weight, or did her makeup style change? When I said I finally got alar reduction surgery, most of their reactions were like, “Oh, no wonder, something seemed different but I wasn’t sure. But it’s so fascinating, you did well! Before, your face looked comfortable, but now it seems more feminine” haha. It’s fun seeing reactions when there’s a change in my face lol.
Now I’m used to my nostril wings, so when I look at old photos I think, wow, my nose really was spread out haha. It was truly a choice I don’t regret, and I still go around recommending it to friends. If you have many concerns about your nostril wings, please really get a consultation first, and try reducing them just a little without being greedy. You’ll be satisfied haha. However, I was lucky so the sizes of both nostrils are not severely different, but up close, the shape of the lower part of the nostril wings, where the stitches were removed, is slightly different. I think it’s visible because I’m the sensitive type! This was something I expected right after surgery too... I’m applying scar cream very diligently, and if it doesn’t go away, I’m going to try laser treatment haha. I showed my friends my scar up close when I was bare-faced and asked how it looked, and they said this level wasn’t noticeable at all and was fine. Maybe I’m just being particular haha.
Anyway, for me it’s five stars for satisfaction! Since life only happens once, I can’t live with a perfectly pretty face anyway, but even resolving a small complex can raise your confidence in your face to some degree. There are so many really pretty and handsome people these days, so I want to get other areas done too, but I’m a coward who thought about alar reduction surgery for 10 years, so I don’t plan on getting any more cosmetic surgery now. (I genuinely respect people who have had several areas done...) If you’re similar to me, at least get a consultation and think about it. Do it while you’re even a little younger and enjoy it! I’m already older now, so I have a lot of facial sagging and wrinkles, but just getting my nostril wings done makes me like my current face the most!
