I thought a lot about surgery, then had a consultation for protruding-eye surgery and went through with it. They said the average is 12-15, but mine was about 19, so I had surgery with 2 walls(?). When I first had the consultation, they also recommended under-eye fat repositioning, so I thought about it and did it all at once. There are so few places that can do protruding-eye surgery, so I only had a consultation here. I wanted to have the under-eye fat repositioning done somewhere else, but since I was doing this while working, it was hard to schedule a surgery date, so I just had both done at once. Here is my review.
* At the time of surgery They said I would feel sleepy, and I already don’t remember anything. When I woke up, I was lying in the recovery room. There was no pain at all, and after I had been lying there for quite a while, they told me I could get up and leave.
I opened my eyes, and the double vision was so severe that I felt dizzy. They had told me absolutely not to bring a car because of the double vision, and I recommend bringing one guardian with you too. I came alone, and because of the double vision, I had a hard time taking public transportation home;;
Until the first day, blood would sometimes flow from my eyes, but I just wiped it with gauze and rested.
* Day 2 I’m not usually the type to swell easily, and I heard sleeping while sitting helps with swelling, so maybe because I mostly slept sitting up, I had almost no swelling. There was a very strong pulling sensation above my lips, next to the philtrum. (This was something they had told me about in advance.) Also, the depth of my eyes was subtly different. But they said this would gradually even out too, so I didn’t get impatient. If something like discharge came out near my eyes, I wiped it off with a cotton swab and kept doing cold compresses regularly. Since I had surgery on Friday, I rested all through Saturday and Sunday, but I did think that if I had to work, I could have. (I also played computer games from Saturday, and as long as I took breaks in between, I could do it just fine.)
* Day 3 Once while sleeping, I tilted slightly to the side, and that side swelled up a lot. Still, after 10 minutes of cold compresses, it went back to normal. Everything else was about the same.
* Day 5 By around day 5, the eye swelling was almost 99% gone, but instead it looked yellow under my eyes, like bruising. And the slight left-right difference also evened out. From the front, it wasn’t very noticeable, and from the side, the angle of the eyelid looked just very slightly different??? So it’s barely noticeable.
But the gym I go to uses facial recognition for entry, and when I went for a light jog, it didn’t recognize me well. I wondered if it was because the depth of my eyes had changed.
* Day 7 I met a friend on day 7, and they said something felt different. But I think that’s not because of the protruding-eye surgery, but because of the under-eye fat repositioning. Oh, and even on day 7, when I spit out phlegm, dead blood still occasionally comes out mixed in.
Honestly, as of day 7, I can’t really tell the effect yet.
When I was first informed, they said I would see about 50% of the effect after a month, so I’m going to wait slowly. (They told me it would be 70% at 3 months and 90% at 6 months...)
When it has been about a month, I’ll leave a more detailed review. Right now it doesn’t really show, so uploading photos probably wouldn’t mean much...
