One month after incisional revision surgery. Like many double-eyelid surgery people, I’ve been depressed all this time too. Even before stitch removal, the right eye had a double line along the scar from the medial epicanthoplasty from my first surgery. After stitch removal, the swelling going down quickly? As if. For 20 days, the eyes stayed the same and only the stitch line scabbed over and recovered; When I looked at the photos I took to track progress, my heart pounded from stress and I felt suffocated. So after the revision, I kept feeling bad, and only recently calmed down.
But My first surgery was so badly ruined that I’ve lived roughly with these eyes for over ten years, so I don’t even take photos. Still, just in case, I found photos from before the revision and compared them, and the revision wasn’t the failure;;
The first surgery had absolutely wrecked my eyes;;; The revision doctor still seems to have worked hard to fix them in their own way;;;;;; Comparing them side by side with my pre-revision eyes, they were in that state, so I feel like this is something;
It has been over ten years since the first surgery, but that brutal medial scar + wrinkly, uneven texture. A crazy, awful, crooked line that you couldn’t believe was from double eyelid surgery. There was also a white scar from the medial epicanthoplasty under the inner front of the eye, but because it’s old, this one has faded a lot. My eye condition was seriously terrible;; I think the revision surgeon tried really hard to fix it;; When I compare before and after revision photos instead of just progress photos, I suddenly feel grateful?!;;
What I’m disappointed about at one month 1. Because of the existing medial epicanthoplasty scar, the left side feels like an in-fold and the right side feels like an in-out fold. The front of the right eye is messy. That area is very disappointing. Why didn’t they clean it up to there? That’s what I’m disappointed about. If they had asked for more money to clean that up, I would have paid right away. Because of that, I’m 80% satisfied. Even now while there is swelling, seeing the skin crease makes it look like there is enough skin laxity, so after all the swelling goes down and the left-right asymmetry becomes less noticeable, I’m thinking of either just living with it or looking into whether it can be corrected to an in-fold while cleaning up the scar on only one side within a feasible range.
2. When I close my eyes comfortably without forcing them, they currently don’t close by about 1.5 mm. I think it will get better or become extremely minimal once the swelling goes down. Even now, I don’t think I have major discomfort in daily life or after waking up, so I’m not too worried.
I was depressed because the recovery after revision was slow and I wasn’t satisfied, but after seeing the before-and-after photos, I think they fixed quite a lot, so I’m leaving this post. I’m leaving it so that anyone whose primary surgery was completely botched can have hope.
Lastly, Everyone, let’s get the first surgery done somewhere good........ If the first surgery goes wrong, there’s no answer...... And if canthoplasty goes wrong, it’s even more hopeless than double eyelid surgery going wrong....... Think really carefully before doing canthoplasty......
