Review of Canthoplasty to Lower the Outer Eye Corners

I’m posting a review of the day-of-surgery experience for my canthoplasty to lower the outer eye corners! Ever since I was born, my outer eye corners have always been really upturned, so I kept hearing all kinds of things like I looked like I was up to something, that I looked like a fennec fox, or that my makeup looked too strong. So about 2 years ago I had a rear and lower epicanthoplasty done somewhere else, and when the stitches were still tied, it looked perfect, but the moment they were removed, my eyes went back to being almost exactly like they were before, and I was completely disappointed. Then by chance I watched a YouTube review video and thought, oh, I should get it done here. Here, instead of the usual method of fixing it to the periosteum, they cut it out and, anyway, the director has a special method of their own so even very upturned eyes can be lowered, the effect of the rear and lower epicanthoplasty is also excellent, and they say it won’t reattach. So after consultation and a lot of consideration, I decided to go ahead. The director said there was still quite a bit of space for the procedure, so that was a relief. On the day of surgery I fasted, went in wearing a patient gown, listened to the consultation coordinator’s precautions, met the director, and then went into surgery. The recovery room bed seemed a bit dirty, and aside from the cold pack they gave me being way too lukewarm, there weren’t any uncomfortable points at the hospital. If anything, when work gets really busy, things just go swish-swish-swish, so I felt like it was kind of a veteran’s life lol When you get surgery, they always say you should get it from an experienced director rather than a young one, right? I think I understand what that means. It was only a short sleep anesthesia, and while I didn’t really feel pain during most of the surgery, I could hear and feel everything being done. I could feel the cutting and stitching and everything lol Especially what I liked was that the director would sit clearly on the left and do the left side, then sit on the right and do the right side. I mean, at other places it often seemed like they sat in the middle and did it that way. It felt like they really paid attention to symmetry on both sides, if I had to put it that way. In the end, I’m still swollen like crazy, but it seems perfectly symmetrical lol The right side was smaller for me, and the right side seems to have received more attention somehow, and I also have conjunctival edema there. If that was something you were considering too, then wow, genius, amazing lol I asked them to open it as much as possible, and they said they always do the maximum possible and told me not to worry lol Anyway, overall there were lots of people, the wait time was short, and everything felt smooth and practiced, almost like veteran life lol When I got home I did cold compresses, and the cold pack they gave me was really big. Because it was so large, it was nice since it kind of wrapped around left, right, top, and bottom, but it was too big for my head. I think it would be better if they improved that a bit, and they only gave me one, so while that one was freezing I couldn’t use it, which was inconvenient! I used one I had at home instead lol I thought they should have given two lol Anyway, even the big cold pack felt like that veteran vibe lol I’m not usually the type to swell badly, but out of the eye surgeries I’ve had, this one has had the most swelling and conjunctival edema. But after reading other people’s reviews, it doesn’t seem that severe compared to theirs. Anyway, I only got 4 proper days off, Thursday through Sunday, and then I have work again from Monday, so for a faster recovery I’m planning to do cold compresses at home all day. After I recover quickly, I hope that by around Monday I’ll at least look a little bit normal lol They said they would remove the stitches in two parts, once on Tuesday and once on Friday. I’ll come back next time with a prettier state!
