Hi hi! To mark(?) one week since I had closed nasal tip surgery, I’m going to write a review Honestly, it’s only been one week, so I’m still anxious. I still have a little bruising... and inflammation... could happen someday, right? The hospital and director aren’t at a level where I’d want to recommend them, so I’ll keep them private^^;
For the before-and-after photos, if someone saw them they might say, “You paid money for that?!” but I think it’s a pretty big difference ㅠ If you only do the nasal tip, it’ll be about that much~ please just use it as reference haha
First, there were exactly two reasons I wanted a closed approach: 1. a subtle change like filler 2. quick recovery time (because I’m an office worker sob) Closed surgery definitely has few options and not much information. If possible, I think it’s better to set aside plenty of time and do an open approach. Still, I hope this helps anyone looking into closed surgery!

1. Deciding on the hospital & director As I said, there weren’t many options to begin with ㅠ and since my time was limited, I looked into it in a rush and suddenly booked it too. The place I went to had things like “20 years with no accidents~” posted on the door, but its KakaoMap rating was really low, there weren’t many good reviews in this community either, and some comments even tried to stop people from going. So why did I do it? I don’t know either ^^ What kind of courage was that... Anyway, the hospital has been around for a long time. Oh, and I had one more consultation at another place, but they told me to shave down bone, so I passed.
2. What is closed nasal tip surgery? I’ve been seeing a lot of Coselco these days, but it wasn’t that. For me, it was a surgery where they harvested ear cartilage (cut from behind the ear and the tragus), used it to make a support strut between the nasal cartilages and sutured them together, then stacked several layers on top. Well... that’s the theory, but only the director knows whether it was really done that way lol. And I’ve heard that an ear-cartilage columellar strut can collapse, so I’m preparing myself for that too ^^ ha.......
3. Surgery day and process I did briefly see the director during the consultation, but I felt like he definitely wouldn’t remember, so I Photoshopped a side-view photo of myself and brought it. I thought if I showed it right before surgery, he’d at least use it as reference. I think the consultant printed the image and brought it into the operating room while I was under sedation.
First I washed my face, changed into surgical clothes, lay on the operating table, and they trimmed my nose hair. They trimmed it with a machine, and it hurt a bit. Then the director came in, greeted me, put a needle in my arm, and I was under sedation for about 5 minutes. During sedation it didn’t hurt, but I did feel a bit of a scraping sensation around my ear and nose. When I woke up from sedation, there was cloth over my eyes and the surgery was in full swing. I could even feel them sewing lol. Background music was playing in the clinic and the director was humming along while doing it. He seemed relaxed, so I felt reassured but also nervous lol. I did say a few things here and there, but I didn’t want to upset the person holding a knife for no reason, so I only said what was absolutely necessary lol
The really funny thing is that before surgery I was like, “I’m definitely doing it this time, so don’t stop me!” but from the moment I lay on the operating table, I regretted it lol. I kept thinking, “I must be crazy... what kind of glory and riches am I trying to enjoy... I’m really crazy...” while praying it would finish safely.
Right after surgery, they showed me in the mirror, and my nose was so sharp like an arrow that I freaked out, you know? But one week later, when I removed the taping, it had gone back to being round like in the photo. I was depressed all week thinking I might have to live with that sharp nose from right after surgery...
Anyway, surgery ended like that, and my nose and one ear were wrapped all around with tape, and I was kind of abandoned(?) in the recovery room. They just handed me something like an ice pack, and whether everyone went to eat together or what, I was sitting alone in an empty waiting room lol. I don’t know what other places are like, so I can’t compare ;;
4. After surgery There’s still some swelling left, but maybe because it was closed, it really does go down quickly. Aside from the bruising, it’s to the point where no one would know I had surgery? Thankfully there’s zero pain, but they said I need to keep taking care of the ear incision area.
They say an ear-cartilage nasal tip can droop a bit, so I am worried about that, but what can I do? I’ll have to wait and see~
As I kept rambling, this got too long The last thing I want to say is... with nose surgery, seriously, better to lean toward not doing it ^_ㅜ I also thought about it for 8 years before going through with it, but as of now I feel like nasal filler might be better (on the premise that you’ll never have nose surgery for life) At least that can be dissolved and removed..
Anyway! Whether open or closed, I sincerely hope everyone has successful nose surgery!!
