Long post warning.. I went to 3 places in Gangnam and 3 in Sinsa, and it was kind of interesting because each had distinct characteristics. Another interesting thing was that all 6 places gave slightly different diagnoses. I guess this is why you have to go around for consultations. Because my line is asymmetrical, the right side is higher and overall it has loosened, so incision + ptosis correction were essential. I was also concerned about my sunken eyelids. Before going around for consultations, I got a lot of help by looking up many consultation-shopping posts, so I’m writing one too!
Gangnam: As soon as I arrived, they took photos first and consulted while looking at the photos. There was pressure to pay a reservation deposit (they said they would give the discounted price only if I paid a deposit). The wait to meet the director was extremely long. Sinsa: No photos taken, absolutely no pressure to pay a reservation deposit, short wait time. If you’re going to several places in one day, I think 1 hour 30 minutes between Gangnam clinics and 1 hour between Sinsa clinics is enough?
I’m currently deciding between two hospitals in Sinsa...
1. ㅇㄷ(ㅇㅅㅎ) Incision + ptosis correction + right epicanthoplasty - 2.9 million KRW The director here was really curt, and I felt bad throughout the consultation;; When I said I wanted an in-out line, he asked if I even knew what in-out meant and told me to explain the difference from a semi-out line;; And he was talking almost as if telling me not to have surgery, so when I asked if he was not recommending surgery, he said, “Why are you asking me that?”ㅋㅋㅋㅋ saying I’m the one who decides.. Anyway, he kept speaking in a way that made me feel bad, so keep that in mind. Eyelid fat repositioning is possible during surgery + they make the inner corner by incising along the double-eyelid line, but if it doesn’t form, an upper epicanthoplasty has to be done together. If we keep the left line height as is and the eye-opening strength becomes stronger, the line could get hidden, so to make the line visible even when my eyes are open, it needs to be made a little higher. No line other than semi-out is possible. No pressure to pay a reservation deposit.
2. ㅇㄹㅇ(ㅇㄷㅅ) Incision + fat grafting + ptosis correction (one side only, even if done there won’t be a big difference) 3.5 million In-out is possible, but the line has to be lowered, so the eyes will look smaller. Recommended semi-out over in-out. They said to think of it as making the double eyelid more defined while keeping it almost the same as the current left eye line. Other places said fat grafting wasn’t necessary, but this was the only place that said I had to do fat grafting, so I passed.. There was pressure to pay a reservation deposit, so I paid 50,000 KRW and came out (refundable).
3. ㅇㅇㅇ(ㄱㅎㅇ) Incision + ptosis correction 3.2 million Both the director and consultant were extremely kind. They accurately understood and explained my eye structure and why it looks asymmetrical. They said it would be good to lower the line and make one side feel like semi-out and the other like in-out. I debated until the end, but I didn’t like the line they held for me ㅠ They said they barely do anything else and are an eye-specialized hospital. There was pressure to pay a reservation deposit, so I paid 200,000 KRW and came out.. (refundable)
4. ㅇㅇㅇ(ㅈㅇㄱ) Incision (double-line method, excision if needed) + ptosis correction 3 million This was the only place that mentioned the double-line method.. But they said if it seems excision will work during surgery, they’ll do excision, so I told them I wanted excision. They said they would do fat repositioning during surgery and fat grafting if needed. It felt like they don’t decide everything for certain before surgery, but do things if needed during surgery~ They tried holding the line so many times. They had me open and close my eyes several times, then held the line while I looked in the mirror. I think they explained things the most thoroughly. They said if ptosis correction is overdone it becomes unnatural, so they’ll only do it slightly, but it can’t be skipped. Basically, the left line will stay almost as is, and only the higher part on the right will be lowered slightly. They kept asking if I had anything else I was curious about... They said I have to visit the hospital 1 day, 3 days, and 7 days after surgery, so I think the aftercare will be good!
5. ㅋㄹㅁ(ㄱㅈㅎ) Incision + ptosis correction + upper epicanthoplasty 3 million The wait wasn’t long, but the director came in, held the line a few times, said “This should do it~,” and left..ㅜ They said semi-out would probably be better, and this was also the only place that said I needed upper epicanthoplasty. They said I do have sunken eyelids, but not enough to require fat grafting. This place was okay too, but I’m spending 3 million of my own money on eye surgery that I may have for the rest of my life, and they consult with this little effort..? That’s what I felt, so I passed.
6. ㅇㅎㅅ(ㅈㅎㅊ) Incision + ptosis correction 3.3 million The consultant immediately pointed out the part I was concerned about first.. The director also explained things thoroughly and seemed to consider the position of the brow bone very important? (When I watched YouTube, he talked a lot about the brow bone.) So they said the two sides are actually the same height, but because of the eyebrow, one side looks higher. They took photos with a tablet and explained carefully while drawing on them, and said we should lower it by 1 mm from the current line.
All six places were a little different, so some got filtered out and some made me think harder! If you’re considering surgery, I think it’s good to visit several places for consultations.
