I finally made up my mind and booked my first rhinoplasty for winter
My nose is like this!
Final decision: no implant + osteotomy + correction of bulbous nose + slight trimming of the hump on top
Reason I decided on rhinoplasty: I hadn't thought much about it, but my dad told me my nose was low. After that, as I kept looking, I did think it seemed low, though from the front I thought it looked charming in its own way lolololol But should I say my side profile overall looks older because of my nose? The nasal tip is a little droopy compared with my facial harmony Because of that, it slowly became a complex, I started avoiding taking photos, and I also stopped lowering my mask much. After thinking about it, I decided on no implant because I wanted a "refinement," not major construction
I went to 4 places
No. 1 and 3: two places said no implant was possible No. 2 and 4: two places said to put in at least a thin implant, 2 mm-2.5 mm / 3 mm + donated costal cartilage
Of course, since it would be my first surgery anyway, I also thought about making it higher for an image change. So I even brought Kang Haerin's nose as a reference. Honestly, Haerin's nose isn't as high as Karina's or Minji's, so they did say it was feasible. But there are many cases where people remove it because they can't adjust to the suddenly changed image, and my aversion to silicone really wouldn't go away They say contracture and inflammation are under 10%, but you never know, really... Of course, no implant isn't 100% safe either, but I still wanted to reduce my worry about a foreign-body sensation. I gave up on the bridge instead of being greedy and chose safety, and literally, what I wanted was refinement!!
Among the 4 places, No. 4 was a place I had really been looking forward to... but I was taken aback because they suggested using donated costal cartilage from the first surgery. They were the only one to mention donated costal cartilage. They said my septal cartilage didn't look firm. But as I said earlier, I have a strong aversion to a foreign-body sensation, so I had been told to view donated costal cartilage about the same as silicone. Then I don't want it. I'd rather put in autologous costal cartilage, that's how I feel, you know? So I gave up......
At the No. 3 hospital I chose now, the director gave me a long consultation, explained which parts would change and how, wrote everything down on paper, and packed it separately in an envelope so I could remember it without forgetting. I felt that part was really thoughtful and liked it!
Aftercare: other places were 1 year, only this place was 2 years, and CCTV can be checked!
Also, my nose is small, but I did have a bit of a complex about the nasal dorsum looking wide, you know? But this was also the only hospital that mentioned it. They suddenly said that if you look at my nasal bones, they're slightly trapezoid-shaped, so it creates an effect of looking broad, and osteotomy can make it look slightly slimmer, but that doesn't mean the nasal bridge becomes higher, so it's optional~
After hearing that, I thought, oh, is that why the first hospital I went to, No. 1, also recommended osteotomy + no implant!! Once I heard the reason too, I trusted them more
Of course, the other two places, No. 2 and 4, did not recommend osteotomy because my nasal bones are small. Still, I said I would do osteotomy at this No. 3 hospital. They said there would be no nasal obstruction even after osteotomy. (My choice) The director didn't pressure me
Honestly, even now I can't believe I'm actually getting rhinoplasty, and I'm scared too. There are many failed reviews, side effects and all that, and people who feel regret after doing it, etc. I may not be able to be satisfied with everything, but I really won't be greedy, so I hope the complex area improves...
