First of all, my eyes have thick skin and the distance between my eyebrows and eyes is narrow. The line isn’t particularly high, but I have sunken eyes, depressed scars, deep fixation, and mucosal eversion too, so I’m looking into revision surgery to loosen the fixation and lower the line by about 1 mm.
So far, I’ve gone to 13 places for consultations, and I was diagnosed like this: Secondary line-lowering incision technique 4 : excision 7 : secondary line-lowering incision technique + excision 1 : only releasing the fixation 1
The doctors who recommended the secondary line-lowering incision technique said there isn’t enough extra skin to lower the line, and since I already have visible scarring, I’d have to accept a double-line scar.
The doctors who recommended excision said I’m not lowering it by much, and there is enough extra skin, so there’s no need to create a double scar by doing the secondary line-lowering incision technique. They also said they would excise the extra skin below the double-eyelid line, so the distance between the eyebrow and the eye wouldn’t become narrower.
But at the one place that said they would cut along the existing incision line and only release the fixation, the doctor got angry and said, “What are they talking about? It’s already narrow now, so of course it’ll get even narrower. You must not cut out skin. Haven’t you seen scars from that secondary line-lowering incision technique? Can you handle that?” They said that simply making the fixation shallow enough would have no side effects and would reduce the double eyelid by half. So this method seemed relatively safe, and I wanted to do it there, but the cost is on a completely different level compared to other places... If you’ve looked into revision surgery, you can probably roughly guess where this is.
Has anyone here improved mucosal eversion during revision surgery,,,, I thought releasing the fixation wouldn’t have any side effects, but they say the eye-opening muscle could get injured and cause lagophthalmos too,,,,
Because of all this, there isn’t a single clinic I feel drawn to. There aren’t any more places I want to visit either.. I wonder if doing more consultations is the answer. I’d appreciate opinions from everyone who has had revision surgery to lower the line•••
