The scar really does become large, but it’s a matter of gaining one thing and losing one thing. They said you just choose the bigger priority, whether the scar comes first or living more lightly. For me, it’s the latter. Since I’m an older woman, I don’t really care about the scar. It also fades over time, and they said they would do laser treatment too. It hurts.. Up to day 3. After that, it’s bearable, just uncomfortable. For a month, you have to sleep leaning against a wall, and if a seroma fills up, you have to keep visiting every two days to have it drained. From week 3, you have to apply ointment and attach silicone sheets. (Taking them off every 12 hours, washing, drying, and putting them back on is really a chore.) The cost of ointment and sheets is not negligible either. You have to use them for at least 3 months, and it costs several hundred thousand won. You also have to keep applying ointment, so that costs a lot too haha. Surgery is the beginning, not the end. I think surgery is something where aftercare is more important.
