For several years, I had only been thinking about facial contouring, but recently I changed my mind to two-jaw surgery + facial contouring, kept researching online, narrowed it down to 2 hospitals, and went for consultations.
Of course, getting lots of consultations can be good, but I live outside Seoul, and I thought that the more consultations I got, the harder it might be for me to decide, and it could actually be harmful for me, so I researched as much as possible online, and among them, one hospital that I liked and trusted came up... I was thinking I would go straight ahead if I had a consultation with the director and liked it.
1. Gangnam ㄱㄹㅎ Plastic Surgery Consultation fee: 20,000 won This place does not do two-jaw surgery, only facial contouring. I had already heard that they dislike shaving too much, prefer conservative and natural lines, and place importance on safety.
Since they do not do two-jaw surgery, I did not intend to choose this hospital from the start, but there were many reviews saying the director gives blunt, fact-based comments, so I wanted to have a consultation at least once. The consultation manager was so nice. She made me feel really comfortable, like an older neighborhood sister. The director asked my height and weight, then suddenly asked if he could touch my thighs and abdomen.. I was flustered for a moment but said OK. It turned out he was checking whether I had enough fat for fat grafting. My side cheekbones were stressing me out, but he told me not to shave them and to put filler into the hollow temples instead. He recommended hairline hair transplantation, and said that for the hollow midface, fat grafting + 2-type facial contouring (square jaw, chin tip) would be good. I asked how many mm could be shaved, but he said how many mm is not important, and that making it natural is important, or something like that. In the end, he did not tell me the numbers. He said if I really wanted two-jaw surgery, I should get a two-jaw consultation. Since my lower lip protrudes a bit more than my upper lip, he said two-jaw surgery would naturally be more effective than facial contouring, and that it was the patient's decision, then it ended. I wanted to be a plastic surgery model, but he said I was not that kind of case.
(Personally, I did not feel that this director's consultation was exactly... good. Maybe my expectations were too high.. I felt that consultations can be perceived differently by each person, and it seems case by case.)
2. Gangnam Oral and Maxillofacial ㅅㅇㅍㅇㅅ21 Dental Clinic I went without a separate consultation fee. When I looked up in-person consultation reviews, I think the examination fee was several hundred thousand won? For me, I had the consultation and proceeded to book surgery right away, so I did not separately pay an examination fee, so I do not know exactly, and the surgery deposit was 3 million won.
While looking through reviews, even before receiving the consultation, my mind had already leaned toward this hospital. I also watched the director's YouTube videos before going. The director explained things calmly and thoroughly, and I will proceed with two-jaw surgery + 3-type facial contouring without orthodontic treatment.
My occlusion is even and fairly okay, and even without orthodontic treatment, the result would be 90 points. If it is above 80 points, there is no major problem living normally, and 100 points is a textbook-like number. If surgery and orthodontic treatment are done together, of course the synergy is good, but even if I do not do orthodontic treatment, it is not a very big difference.
He warned me that my airway is on the narrow side, so if the bone is moved back a lot, snoring could become worse.
Because my left and right square jaw are asymmetrical, each side will be shaved by around 10 mm, and considering the nerve line at the chin tip, it can be shaved up to 6-7 mm. However, considering facial proportions, he said around 5 mm would be better. Maxillary midface: 3 mm.
I asked because I was worried that shaving the cheekbones might make my face look more cucumber-shaped, and he said that could happen, but that it would be okay to proceed by shaving just a little to make it softer.
I asked him to avoid a sunken mouth shape, witch's chin, and nose widening. I also asked if he could make only my upper front teeth show when I smile (in case I ended up with an elderly-looking mouth shape...), but he said it is normal and pretty for the lower teeth to show a little naturally too.
Trusting the director, on the day of the consultation, I paid the full surgery fee without asking anything further and set the surgery date.
During the examination, they took dental impressions and photos (it was a bit hard for me ㅠㅠ), and while moving my jaw here and there, they also took an impression of what it would be like when the teeth were moved inward. I liked the hospital's systematic setup, and between the consultation, examination, and everything else, it took well over 3 hours. •If you are going for a two-jaw consultation, I recommend going here once•
