First of all, I’m a man and I went around for eye surgery consultations. My current condition is slight ptosis in the left eye, eyes that are overall on the narrow side in width, and sleepy-looking eyes. The surgical direction I want is for my eyes to look natural but a bit wider, and for my eyes overall to look clearer and more defined.
From 13 plastic surgery clinics, I narrowed it down to 5 through acquaintance recommendations, searches, reviews, etc. After that, I visited those 5 places and consulted with directors who had good experience and reviews. My surgery date is scheduled for next Thursday, 4/6. The surgical result is the most important, but I’ll write mainly about what I discussed during the visits and consultations.
1. ㄹ ㅂ (consultation: Director ㅎㅈㅇ) (2.9 million won, non-incisional ptosis correction + epicanthoplasty, lateral/lower canthoplasty) : This was the first place I visited, and both the consultant and the director were fine. However, this was the only place that looked at my eyes and said non-incisional surgery was possible. They said that later, if my eyes droop more, I would need incisional surgery, so they recommended doing non-incisional now. (After that, I visited the other 4 clinics, and all of them recommended incisional surgery. They said my eyes had a fairly high chance of the result loosening if done non-incisionally.) We also talked about canthoplasty, and they said that if I did canthoplasty, my impression could change a bit. It could change to a gentler look, etc. Everything was good, but this was the only place that suggested non-incisional surgery, so my trust in it dropped a bit. Passed.
2. ㄱ ㄹ (consultation: Director ㅂㄷㅈ) (4.3 million won, incisional ptosis correction + epicanthoplasty, lateral/lower canthoplasty) : The director had a huge amount of experience. I felt like he would do the surgery well. He said non-incisional was impossible for my eyes and recommended incision and canthoplasty. He was the type to speak quite firmly about the direction. However, the only downside was that the price was very expensive. I was trying not to spare money on plastic surgery, but even so, when I heard the price, I flinched a bit. Over 4 million won. I hesitated because of the price and then passed.
3. ㅇㅇ Top (consultation: ㅇㅎㅈ) (2.7 million won, incisional ptosis correction + epicanthoplasty, dual canthoplasty) : What I liked was that they took photos from the front and both sides, put those photos up, and consulted while confirming them. The consultant explained things well, and the director also gave a specific and detailed consultation. For the direction I wanted, he recommended non-incisional surgery, and for canthoplasty, he directly touched my eyes and explained while looking at the photos too. This was the place where I felt most comfortable and liked it the most. I thought the price was okay too. I put down a 100,000 won deposit and held it. In the end, I passed on this place because ㅈㅇㅈ had overwhelmingly more male clients, while ㅇㅇ Top had mostly female clients. I agonized over it a lot and then passed. Since I’m a man, I was more drawn to a place that specializes in men. If I were a woman, I think I would have chosen this place.
4. ㅇㅇ트 (consultation: ㅎㄱㅇ) (2 million won, incisional ptosis correction) : First, there was a consultation fee of 10,000 won. The director gave a very detailed consultation and explained the surgical direction. (He also had a lot of experience with male plastic surgery.) After looking at my eyes, he said I needed incisional surgery, and he did not recommend canthoplasty. He said my eyes would be unlikely to benefit from canthoplasty, and it might only leave scars. The plastic surgery clinic did seem to have many female clients, but also felt like they did a lot of male plastic surgery.
5. ㅈㅇㅈ (consultation: ㅇㅇㅈ) (1.5 million won, partial-incision ptosis correction) : As soon as I walked in, there were only male clients. (About 5 people.) That made me decide a bit more firmly. Both the consultant and the director explained things well. The director, like ㅇㅇㅌ, looked at my eyes and said it would be better not to do canthoplasty. Ptosis correction alone would have the effect of making the eyes look more open. So first, he suggested doing ptosis correction, and if I was not satisfied later, then moving toward doing canthoplasty. It felt like they only proceeded with the necessary parts, without pushing surgery. It was also a place recommended by an acquaintance, and it felt like they specialized in men, so I made my final choice there.
That’s the end of my in-person consultations at 5 places, and I listed the parts I felt and the characteristics. I think it’ll be helpful as a reference, but the most important thing is ultimately the surgical result, so I hope you don’t trust this too blindly. I plan to upload the surgical result later too.
