Before before after after 2-month cheekbone surgery review
I only had cheekbone surgery, and it was done through an intraoral incision. I wrote detailed reviews up to the 1-month mark, so please check my previous reviews for the vivid details. I’ll briefly summarize my 2-month review.
~Day 4 - Going to the hospital diligently for disinfection and antibiotic injections ㅠㅠ Facial swelling so bad that going out was difficult. For meals, only soup was possible. It seems like cheek hollowing is inevitable...?
Week 2 - It looked like a human face, but the swelling was still too much to live among people who know me... The swelling around the anterior cheekbone area was severe, so I couldn’t smile, and my mouth wouldn’t open well, so I spilled food while eating. If you eat with others, it is definitely noticeable. I slowly felt the surgical area healing. For meals, soup + noodles became possible. I dissolved bread or snacks to eat them and ate ice cream often.
1 month - It was my face, but it had subtly changed, so people around me couldn’t say anything but I could feel them staring hard. The cheek hollowing got a little better. But strangely, when I touched my lateral cheekbones they weren’t there, yet visually it felt like there wasn’t much difference. I could eat most things like meat, chicken, pizza, etc., but I roughly chewed and swallowed. Smiling still looked awkward.
2 months - My facial contour became much softer. When taking photos, I started using the basic camera (of course, not for selfies, but for full-body shots). Even photos taken from the 45-degree angle that stressed me out the most now look really good to me. My younger sibling said I seem much slimmer. The cheek hollowing also improved a lot. I kind of hope the swelling doesn’t go down any more... I can smile well now too. I can even eat pickled radish, cubed radish kimchi, and jelly. Of course, I still chew carefully. Eating has become much more natural, but I still can’t eat a macaron or hamburger in one bite.
Honestly, there wasn’t any pain, and aside from eating, there wasn’t much discomfort! Eating was very uncomfortable... I even regretted having surgery because of meals... But these days my photos come out well, so I’m spending very rewarding days lol. At the 2-month mark, I had another follow-up check with the director, and they said it is well fixed in place. I ate pretty much everything I wanted, so seeing that it’s fixed well makes me think I worried for nothing. Ah! I thought I might lose some weight while I was at it, but I didn’t. haha Once I could eat, I kept eating and gained it back... Anyway, I think you start getting comfortable only around 2 months. I hope the swelling doesn’t go down any more lol. Anyway, if you have any questions about cheekbone surgery, ask me! I’ll answer as much as I can!
