Review of an aftercare consultation for rhinoplasty

If you search my previous posts, you’ll know what concerns led me to go in for an aftercare consultation, but to summarize briefly: I’m a man in my 20s, and I had surgery because I wanted to improve my long nose. Because I made the wrong choice of putting in silicone, it ended up looking even longer upward, so I went for an aftercare consultation about removing the implant and refining the line. I’ll write the review in detail now. The thing I was most worried about was that the director might insist that it didn’t look longer and say they couldn’t provide aftercare for dissatisfaction with the shape, so I prepared to bring a lot of evidence (photos only) and talk it through. But the director acknowledged it right away? ‘It is absolutely true that it looks longer upward. I think removing the silicone implant is the right thing to do.’ So I decided to remove the implant, and they said we should communicate more thoroughly about the line design on the day of surgery. That already took a weight off my mind, and I talked more about my questions and the line I wanted. What I strongly felt here was that during the first consultation, you need to communicate much more actively about the design you want. There was quite a gap between what I consider beautiful and what the director pursues as beautiful... In that case, it would have been right not to schedule surgery at that clinic, but I didn’t know. My face has a slightly long midface, and I said that because of that, I thought adjusting the nasolabial angle more toward the female range of about 100-105 degrees would create a much greater improvement in the facial proportions. But the director said that for men, a nasolabial angle of 90 degrees is appropriate, so we had a difference of opinion. In general, I think men are set to a nasolabial angle of 90-95 degrees because people prefer a mature and charismatic look for men, while women are set to a nasolabial angle of 100-105 degrees because people prefer a youthful and cute image for women. But I wanted a youthful image and preferred a cute image over a mature or charismatic look, so I said I wanted the nasolabial angle to be around 100-105 degrees. Of course, I’m planning to emphasize what I want while we do the design on the day of surgery. After the consultation ended, I also asked the consultant about aftercare and aftercare costs. At the clinic where I had surgery, aftercare is available for up to 1 year, and they said even simple dissatisfaction with the shape can be handled with aftercare, in which case they only charge anesthesia and material costs. In my case, maybe because the director also acknowledged that the long nose improvement wasn’t properly achieved, they said the aftercare would be done for free. But what they say could change on the day, so I’ll post another review after the aftercare is done. I’m definitely going to ask them to correct it to the feminine nasolabial angle I want. If you look at male actors or idols these days, almost no one has a 90-degree nasolabial angle... They’re all closer to 100-105 degrees! Lastly, everyone who is stressed about a long nose, absolutely don’t use silicone... No matter how low they say they’ll place it, the nasal starting point rises quite a lot, so it becomes endlessly longer upward!!!
