Since this was my first rhinoplasty, I wanted to smooth out my crooked dorsal hump, but I was afraid of complications from implants, so I was only looking into an implant-free procedure. I wanted to avoid large factory-style hospitals, so I researched and visited clinics that specialized exclusively in noses and where the representative surgeon handled everything from consultation to surgery. I had seen occasional online reviews saying that the doctor was somewhat blunt and cold, so I was secretly quite nervous before visiting. After meeting the doctor, I felt that rather than being unfriendly, they simply pointed out objective facts plainly, without sugarcoating. Personally, I found it more trustworthy because I felt no sales pitches meant to entice me with flashy words or unnecessary overtreatment. During the consultation, what made me lean toward the clinic most was the doctor's firm philosophy of putting patient safety first. After carefully examining my nose, the doctor frankly explained what could be achieved with implant-free hump correction and the limits that must never be pushed. I also heard an explanation of the surgical method. They said I would not be completely put to sleep as if unconscious, but the procedure would be performed while I remained slightly conscious, which initially startled me. But thinking about it, if I could look in a mirror or check my condition during surgery and exchange feedback directly with the surgeon, I might be able to coordinate things so the result would not stray too far from what I wanted, which seemed like a positive point. Of course, the estimate was clearly on the high end compared with the other clinics I visited, so it was financially burdensome. Still, since this would be the first surgery on the central feature of my face, my nose, I felt that this level of investment might be worth accepting if safety and quality were the top priorities. Even so, I do not think I should decide after visiting only one clinic, so I plan to visit other clinics before making my decision.
