Originally, I had monolid, droopy eyes with a lot of eyelid fat, but as I got older, the eyelid fat decreased and an eye hollow formed, so my eyes had a very slight inner double eyelid crease. (My acquaintances and I called it an inner double eyelid, but when the doctor saw it, they said it was just an eye wrinkle...) I didn’t have much knowledge about cosmetic surgery, so I vaguely always thought I wanted eye surgery (= I thought double eyelid surgery was the only option) to improve my droopy outer eye corners. But no matter how I looked at it, I felt double eyelids wouldn’t suit my overall face, and as I got older my eyes kept drooping more, so when I took photos, my eyes looked distorted(?) or like something was pressing down on them from above큐 I was always retouching only my eyes(?) and was a bit stressed about it, but through a friend’s introduction I found out about Girin Plastic Surgery Clinic. I called to make an appointment, and they were able to book me right away on the date I wanted, so I went. During the consultation, since I came in vaguely shouting “double eyelid surgery” without knowing exactly what procedure I wanted, they seemed a bit flustered at first, but they calmly listened to my story and recommended a doctor for me. During the consultation, they told me that my concerns would not be solved with double eyelid surgery, and recommended a sub-brow lift + lateral canthoplasty. I thought about it (for half a day) and booked surgery for one week later right away. Among many cosmetic surgeries, it is a relatively simple procedure, but from my perspective it was my first surgery, so I was very worried and requested another consultation. When I went again, they told me, “If you’re too worried, you don’t have to do it. There’s no need to rush, and you can take enough time to think before deciding.” Hearing that made me trust the doctor, so I stopped worrying and confirmed the surgery. One week later, carrying both worry and determination, I went in on the day of surgery. While the doctor was marking my eyes for the eye surgery, they showed me my eye shape in the mirror, saying this is how it would look if I had the sub-brow lift and lateral canthoplasty together. I was worried because my eyes looked like they would become too slit-like, and the doctor agreed with me and said it seemed I didn’t need to go as far as the lateral canthoplasty, so I felt they weren’t over-treating me! We decided to proceed with only the sub-brow lift. I changed clothes and waited a little, then had sedation anesthesia, finished the surgery in about 1 hour, and as soon as I woke up in the recovery room, I looked in the mirror. Unlike what I had worried about, the swelling wasn’t severe and there was no bruising, and I could see a change in my eyes immediately after surgery, which was fascinating. I was satisfied right after the surgery! Interestingly, my eye shape kept changing every hour and every day. Some days they looked uneven, other days it seemed like my eyes had settled beautifully, but in the evening they would look uneven again, and this kept repeating. Later, when I asked, they said it was the process of the dissolvable sutures inside dissolving, so I didn’t worry too much!! They told me I might bruise around day 2-3, so I diligently did ice compresses and applied the medication, but I didn’t swell or bruise much, so after 3 days I just wore a hat, met friends, and went around normally. After getting the stitches removed a week later, recovery definitely sped up. They said that from 1 month onward the surgical area would become red and swollen and the scar would be visible until 3 months, but when I wore makeup, it really didn’t show at all. I started wearing makeup exactly at 1 month, and one of my concerns, the feeling that my eyes looked distorted in photos, almost disappeared!! Now, unless I tell people I had surgery, no one would know. It has settled very naturally! The dissolvable sutures still haven’t completely dissolved, so there is a slight foreign-body sensation under my eyebrows, but I think I’ll be even more satisfied once more time passes and it settles well~!
