Contour 1.5-Type Surgery, Day 5: Summary of Symptoms So Far

I had long-curved square jaw surgery (including chin incision and cortical osteotomy) at lunchtime on March 12.

1. Throat condition My throat condition was the worst. I’m not sure if intubation didn’t go smoothly or if my throat is just weak?,,, I kept coughing and bringing up phlegm, and every time I coughed, my jaw hurt, so I had to support it lol Until day 3, my throat would get dry while sleeping and phlegm kept building up, so I kept waking up in between. I think I finally slept for a longer stretch around day 4... Even then, only a hoarse voice came out. In the end, I could barely speak on day 5. (To the point where the other person would think I had the flu.)

2. Feeling of residual urine Since I was under anesthesia, I don’t remember having a urinary catheter itself, but until the morning of day 3, it felt uncomfortable when I urinated, and the concentration also seemed strange.

3. Abnormal bleeding My period was still quite a while away, but it suddenly happened on day 3. I wore a liner for about a day, and it became watery and then disappeared.

4. Stomach rumbling I think this can’t be helped as long as I’m taking the prescribed medication and antibiotics. Still, since I only ate a liquid diet, I never really had trouble digesting.

5. Appetite From the first day through day 2, I couldn’t manage anything except liquids. (Even those didn’t all go down.) But around days 3-4, my appetite suddenly opened up and I ate a lot lol Soaking bread in soup... mixing cake into milk... mixing soft tofu stew into porridge... scooping up steamed eggs, etc. Still, I did adjust the consistency a bit, like adding more milk to soup and heating it, or adding water and plain white porridge to soft tofu stew to make it milder. I really wanted to eat, but gargling was annoying too, so the amount I ate ended up decreasing automatically...

6. Sleep quality As I said above, I kept waking up because my throat hurt. Until day 2, I only managed to sleep 2 hours at most... On day 3, I would sleep for three or four hours at a time, wake up, and so on? I still can’t sleep deeply, but I think I’m waking up less frequently. For now, when I’m falling asleep, I worry about how swollen my face will be the next day and how dry my throat will be, so maybe that’s why I can’t fall asleep easily.
