The day has finally come when I’m bringing my own review After deciding on revision surgery, I can’t even tell how much I searched starting from last October and how many consultations I went to It’s now been about a month and a half, so I’ll summarize it briefly.
I had my first rhinoplasty 15 years ago and was very satisfied with it. But as time went by, the nasal tip started to droop. Around 10 years later, my nose began to look shorter, almost as if contracture had set in. It gradually became a severely short nose, and even the columella curled inward, making my already long philtrum look even longer and my mouth look more protruded, so I decided to have surgery.
Since it was a revision surgery and not a small expense, I went to consultations at a lot of hospitals. At first, I was just mindlessly booking places that were said to be famous, but then I created criteria. I narrowed it down to doctors who were not like a factory-style clinic and had a certain level of career experience and a lot of revision surgery experience. Then, while looking at review photos, I went to consultations with doctors whose aesthetic direction was similar to what I wanted and whose results included cases similar to mine. Among them, Director Kim Deok-jung gave the most detailed consultation, and I had the feeling of, “Ah, this is the one.”
I think it’s true that autologous costal cartilage really depends on the surgeon’s hand skills. Other people said they suffered for over a month, but I only had a hard time for 3 days, and after about a week there wasn’t any major pain. Just a bit of discomfort? Even that was barely noticeable after 2 weeks.
The nose is a battle with time, so I’m praying the remaining minor swelling goes down quickly. The short nose, visible nasal tip, curled columella, and drooping nasal tip have all improved. The nasolabial angle is closing very nicely in a desirable way. I like my side profile so much that I keep taking only side-profile photos.
Especially since my skin is very thin and my nasal tip had been upturned for such a long time, I was extremely worried, but the tip came out really nicely rounded and soft. Personally, what I wanted was not the feeling of “I had surgery,” but more like “I was naturally pretty,” and I think it turned out exactly in line with my aesthetic preference. Once the swelling between the brows and at the nasal tip goes down, I think the frontal change will be big too. My heart is already pounding.
