Hi, I’m someone who finally got a complete nasal removal done. I even had a revision surgery, but I didn’t like it, so in the end I went as far as complete removal.
1. Primary surgery and revision surgery Primary surgery: functional nose surgery, osteotomy, hump correction, nostril reduction, nasal tip built up with septal cartilage and donated costal cartilage Revision surgery: lowered the nasal tip height I didn’t get silicone, but I still had a lot done,,
First of all, the reason I didn’t like the primary surgery was that it looked seriously way too unnatural. What I kept asking for right up until the surgery was a natural-looking nose, and the doctor also said very confidently that it wouldn’t look like I had surgery, and that if someone who already knew me saw me, they’d just think I had lost weight.
But natural, my foot. After the holiday ended and I went to work, everyone noticed. My original nose was a slightly short, round bulbous nose, but they made the nasal tip way too pointed downward, so from the side I looked like someone who had obviously had surgery. I have photos in my posts too, but in person, it didn’t harmonize with my facial features at all, so it looked really strange. It wasn’t just about harmony either. Even looking only at the nose, it was an unattractive nose that only looked obviously operated on.
If it had simply been that the nasal tip was too high, I wouldn’t have had revision surgery, but I really hated that they had made the tip too pointed downward. My nose also became longer, and after some of the swelling went down, the cartilage started showing through too.
After 6 months, I went for an AS revision consultation, and they said the cartilage didn’t show that much. Anyone could see my nose was extremely high, pointed, and drooping, but I don’t know if their eyes were totally off because they kept saying it looked natural;; They clearly didn’t want to do it. Anyway, I managed to get the revision surgery, and the pointiness was fixed, but the height and the downward drooping did not improve at all. I don’t know why, but it even felt like it drooped more downward,,
My nose originally wasn’t long, but because only the nasal tip drooped downward, it became a hooked nose. My original nose was not a hooked nose at all When I smiled, the hooked nose looked insane…
And the area where the nasal tip and bridge connect looked sunken, should I say? I don’t know if it was to the point of a saddle nose, but as time passed, a step-off developed. I couldn’t stand looking at it, so I considered another revision, but I felt like if I had revision surgery again, I’d probably be dissatisfied with the shape later and have to touch it again. I also hated this hard, fixed feeling, and I just wanted to go back to my original nose.
But in my case, there had been a lot of manipulation, the nasal tip had been raised a lot, and I even had a step-off, right?! So I worried a lot that if the support graft was removed, my nose might collapse.
Looking at reviews of complete removal, it seemed they don’t simply remove everything, but also need to reposition the cartilage. So I was originally going to have it done at the original clinic, but ended up going to a clinic specializing in removal. Also, I had absolutely no trust in the clinic where I had my primary surgery.
2. Complete removal It’s now day 4 after surgery, and I’m still very swollen, so I can’t say for sure what the final result is, but for now I’m satisfied! What I hated most was the hooked nose and the lengthened nose, and those parts seem to have gone back to my original nose. But during my primary surgery, I had my hump shaved down, and during the complete removal they shaved more to smooth out the step-off. So even though I’m swollen right now, I can feel that my nasal bridge is lower than my original nose
Because of the drooping nasal tip, I asked the doctor before surgery, and they said that usually, after complete removal, the nasal tip goes back up to about its original level, but if the condition is very bad, it can actually droop even more. For now, it doesn’t seem to have drooped more yet, but I think I need to keep watching it. Still, since there’s nothing fixed at the nasal tip anymore, I feel like I’ve escaped the hooked nose!
As you can tell from the fact that I had functional nose surgery, I do have some rhinitis. But maybe because my nose was opened three times in one year, I have a lot of runny nose Even though I had functional nose surgery the first time, my rhinitis didn’t improve at all. I’ll bring another review later when I have time.
++++Side note (why I don’t recommend factory-style clinics) I had a pretty hard time after my primary surgery. A few days after surgery, my nosebleed wouldn’t stop for hours, so I went to the emergency room. (When I called the clinic where I had surgery, they said it was their day off and there was nothing they could do, so I should go to the ER.) I thought that if I went to the ER, even if there wasn’t a specialist from that department, they would at least take some measures and do something, but they told me to go to an ER with an ENT specialist..
At that time it was the Lunar New Year holiday, so I was in the provinces, but there was no ENT specialist on duty at any ER in the province where I live, so nowhere would accept me. So I went all the way to Seoul while blood was pouring out of my nose.. The nosebleed wouldn’t stop for hours, and I really thought, I might die like this. It wasn’t just dripping, it was gushing. When I looked at myself on the way home, my face had turned completely pale. Then a few days later, my nose started gushing blood again.
So I called the clinic where I had surgery, and they said all reservations were full right now and told me to make an appointment and come;;; So I said something like, are you kidding me, my nosebleed won’t stop and it’s pouring out right now, and then they said if I came right away, they could see me. (The doctor’s consultation hours were at 4, and it was around 4 then. If it had been consultation time or surgery time, I don’t think they would have seen me.)
You know the cotton packing they put in after nose surgery? The one that triggers cotton-phobia. Since the nosebleed wouldn’t stop, they pushed medicated cotton all the way into the nasal tip and pressed my nose tightly to stop the bleeding, and it hurt so much that tears were streaming down my face.
Anyway, after receiving treatment at the clinic, the nosebleed stopped, but they coldly charged me a consultation fee for that too lol I had already spent a lot on ER fees too lol Because I remembered this, I had the removal done at a different clinic!
At factory-style clinics, it’s too hard to see the doctor when a problem happens, and they don’t handle things well. I wondered if, since the surgeon who did the surgery would know best how it was done, maybe it would be better for that same doctor to do the removal too. But thinking about it the other way, because they know best, I felt like if there was something wrong, they might hide it.
As someone who has had nose surgery myself, I can’t tell people not to get nose surgery. But if you’re going to do it, seriously research it well before you do. I went just because I heard some YouTuber had done it there, got a consultation, and booked the same day. It wasn’t even the same director as that YouTuber. Anyway, if possible, I really hope people don’t go to factory-style clinics.
