Hello! I was never extremely dissatisfied with my nose shape in everyday life, but I disliked how my nose looked sunken, and how my nostrils looked spread out and blunt, so I wanted to become prettier with just a subtle difference haha. Especially when I saw friends who had nose surgery from the side, I would think, “Can one nose really make someone’s overall impression look this much prettier?!” I kept only thinking about it, then went around for consultations in Gangnam and even at plastic surgery clinics in Seomyeon, Busan, close to where I live. I did go to Gangnam too, but going back and forth such a long distance several times felt burdensome, so I couldn’t bring myself to do it And there were so many patients that I wondered if I would be able to receive as much care as I wanted. Then I heard there was a good place in Busan too, so through an acquaintance’s recommendation, I visited ㅇㅇㅇㅋ among the Seomyeon plastic surgery clinics.
[Consultation (first visit)] When I entered the clinic for the consultation, first of all, I liked the calm and warm atmosphere. You know how, when you go to a clinic that feels right for you, you think, “I think this is the place..”? I really felt that way too! Even though there were many people waiting, it didn’t feel chaotic; I could feel that things were running systematically. The consultation was done by both the director and the consultant!
As soon as the director saw me, he looked at the harmony of my face, and also asked what parts I was concerned about, so I could feel that he was trying to reflect the nose shape I wanted as much as possible. I also remember my trust suddenly increasing because he accurately pointed out the areas I had usually thought of as concerns haha.
The consultant felt very experienced! There are many clinics that pressure you into paying a reservation deposit or make you feel intimidated (I hate places like that..), but there was none of that at all. She calmly listened to what I had to say and calmly explained the surgery, so I trusted them!
On CT, I had a deviated septum, so I proceeded with rhinitis surgery as well! Since I was doing functional rhinoplasty together, I also had the functional nose tests that same day and made the reservation before leaving.
[Day of Surgery] Plan: nasal bridge (silicone between 3-4 mm) + nasal tip (septal cartilage) + hump + lateral osteotomy + columella lowering
On the surgery day, my surgery was in the morning, so I came about 1 hour early and waited in the inpatient room! After changing clothes, brushing my teeth, and washing my face, the director came and finalized the design, then I went to the operating room. I was scared of sleep anesthesia, so I was very nervous, but the operating room nurse treated me so calmly and warmly that I was very grateful I held a squishy toy in my hand and counted numbers, and before I knew it I was asleep. I fell asleep saying until the very last moment, “Please don’t make the bridge too high, please make it natural.. Please make the nasal tip round..” haha.
In the middle, I woke up slightly from the sleep anesthesia, and they were still operating. So I told the director that I had woken up, but it seemed like he usually lets the anesthesia lighten a little around the middle! Even though I was in a slightly hazy state of consciousness, I could feel the director operating, and his hands moved extremely quickly and neatly, so I thought, “Ah, the director is the real deal.. He must really like doing surgery.”
You know that the progress and swelling after surgery depend on surgical skill, right..? The more bleeding there is or the longer the surgery takes, the slower the recovery becomes, but maybe thanks to the director’s skill, I recovered very quickly even after surgery, and I think the columella scar is minimal haha (my friend said she was surprised).
After surgery, I had a pain-control injection connected and was in the recovery room, and the nurse brought up warmed porridge!! So I recovered for about 2 hours and was discharged home!
[Postoperative Recovery] Day of surgery (Saturday) - On the day of surgery, I had the pain-control injection, but because of the nasal packing, the pain and discomfort couldn’t be helped!! I turned on a humidifier and slept leaning back in a recliner chair, so it was still manageable haha. Also, the clinic prepared everything like an aftercare package, so I didn’t need to buy anything separately, which was really convenient!!
* Written based on postoperative clinic visits POD 2/3 (Monday/Tuesday) - Since I had surgery on Saturday, I visited on Monday and Tuesday, not the next day! On Monday, they changed the nasal packing once! I thought they were going to remove it that day, but they said they would remove it on Tuesday, so I was sad.. but it meant they were checking carefully and it was for my recovery, so I endured it.. The pain-control injection was removed on Monday!
When they finally removed the packing on Tuesday, it became much more bearable haha. From then on, I only had gauze placed below, and after the packing was removed, I didn’t have any major discomfort. Instead, probably because I had osteotomy, I remember having a lot of swelling!! Still, after the packing was removed, the swelling went down noticeably day by day!
POD 5 (Thursday) - I visited on Thursday, they removed the splint once to check the condition of my nose, then changed it to a new splint! What I really liked was that at every visit, the director always came and checked my progress. After surgery, you feel anxious and have many questions, but because he always checked directly, I could ask what I was curious about, and it also made me feel very reassured!! I wondered if my nasal bridge was too high.. but he said it was still swelling, so I trusted him and waited!
POD 7 (Saturday) - After one week, the splint was finally removed! From then on, they said I didn’t have to wear the splint during the day, and just in case, I should wear it only when sleeping haha. After the splint was removed, I really looked like Avatar, but even so, the nasal tip shape had that natural, high, rounded tip feeling I had wanted, so I liked it!!! I just waited for the bridge swelling to go down quickly..
After splint removal to now - After removing the splint, the swelling went down more day by day! From this point, it’s really a battle with time. I also felt anxious here and there, but when I contacted the clinic, they answered so kindly that I was able to feel reassured! (They are really, really kind, and it is a clinic I trust even more after surgery..)
Now it has been a little less than 3 weeks, and my satisfaction keeps increasing as time passes After doing it, my face definitely feels much more balanced lol. I hope the swelling goes down even more quickly!!!
I really wanted to become naturally prettier without it being obvious, and from the day my splint was removed, my family keeps telling me whenever they see me, “It turned out so well, you became so naturally prettier, the surgery went well” haha. Yesterday I also met a friend, and she said it turned out well and asked which clinic I went to!! If you are looking for a clinic that is good at functional rhinoplasty in Busan and rhinitis surgery, I highly recommend Seomyeon Plastic Surgery ㅇㅇㅇㅋ, where you can address both function and aesthetics.. I am so satisfied with everything from surgery to aftercare!
Everyone, I’m sure nose surgery can be scary and you also have lots of questions, but I hope you become prettier through a successful surgery! I’ll attach the before and after below~
