I had an experience getting a consultation for eye surgery through an introduction from someone I know. I'm not sure if it really was through their introduction, but they explained the surgery in quite a lot of detail, and I think it removed a lot of my fantasies and prejudices about double eyelid surgery. Of course I didn't have the surgery here, but the fact that they would redo it if the patient judged the result unsatisfactory was also quite reassuring.
