Hello! I recently had double-jaw surgery with Director Shin Hee-jin at EU Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery, and I’m now a patient recovering 2 months after surgery! I thought it might help even a little for those considering surgery, so I’m going to honestly share how I decided to have the surgery and what my recovery process was like~~!
First, the biggest reason I decided to have double-jaw surgery was that even though my nose is on the lower side, my mouth looked more protruded than my nose, so I was especially self-conscious about my side profile. Even to my own eyes, my mouth always stood out more than my nose, and that was a major complex for me, so in the end I chose surgery beyond orthodontic treatment Among the many double-jaw surgery hospitals, the reason I chose EU Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery was that when I first went for a consultation, the director and staff were all kind, and they did not recommend any unnecessary surgeries at all!! They only recommended the procedures that were truly necessary for me, so I felt a lot of trust and decided to have surgery here Right after surgery, on days 1 to 3, the swelling got worse every morning, but it didn’t hurt much, and I was only bothered by drooling a little My stomach felt uncomfortable when I was on an IV, but the doctor on duty kindly kept helping me, so my hospital stay wasn’t very difficult! On the day I was discharged on day 3, my nose and throat were blocked, so breathing was a little uncomfortable, but the hospital environment was clean and the medical staff took careful care of me, so I was able to get through it without major difficulty:) On days 4 to 5 after discharge, the swelling became much worse, to the point that I was surprised every time I looked in the mirror My nose gradually started clearing up and breathing kept getting better, but the compression band hurt so much that I loosened it in the middle. Especially on day 5, my face was severely swollen and I suddenly developed jaw pain, so this period actually felt much harder than the day of surgery On days 6 to 7, I still had jaw pain, but I managed the swelling with cold compresses and a lifting headband. When I slept wearing the compression band, heat built up in my face, making it feel hot and somewhat numb, but when I took it off in the morning and applied cold compresses, it quickly got better. The swelling was still severe, but while looking in the mirror, I kept thinking that I wanted to see my recovered face soon! By week 3, a lot of the swelling had gone down, so I met my friends, and everyone was surprised and said my face had become much smaller. Once the swelling from double-jaw surgery really started going down, the change was clearly visible! At the one-month mark, I still had a little bruising left, but a lot of the swelling had gone down, and daily life became much more comfortable. Especially the lifting headband was much more useful than I expected during recovery!!b Now that I’m 2 months post-op, I can eat almost all ordinary foods, so life has become much more comfortable. My recovery was so fast that I almost forgot I had double-jaw surgery, to the point that I wondered if it was okay to feel this comfortable!!! These days I’m really happy thanks to Director Shin Hee-jin, who performed the surgery so well that people around me say every time they see me that my face has become smaller and prettier, and I don’t have to worry about side effectsㅎㅅㅎ The first week after double-jaw surgery was a little difficult because of the swelling and compression band, but the pain was not as severe as I expected!!! As time passed, recovery became faster, and now at 2 months, I can eat freely and definitely feel the change in my appearance, so I truly think I did the right thing having surgery at EU Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery!!
