This is a review of having early removal at a general plastic surgery clinic after a failed nose revision surgery at a nose-removal specialty clinic in Apgujeong. I am currently on day 7 after the removal surgery. I had silicone revision surgery at a nose-removal specialty clinic in Apgujeong, but my nostril asymmetry, shortened columella, and artificial-looking nasal tip shape were not resolved. Having already spent 6 months in a hellish time after my first surgery, I was afraid of going through the same pain again, so I decided on early removal just 7 days after surgery. The clinic said it would improve if I waited about 3 months, and that removal would only be possible if there was absolutely no change. However, I was told that if there was even a slight change, removal would be impossible. To me, that sounded extremely absurd and irresponsible. The reason is that after 3 months, the swelling would go down, and of course there would be some slight change. And because my previous surgical nose and my revision-surgery nose were similar, I felt that even with time, the nostril asymmetry and artificial nasal tip would absolutely not change. (Additionally, my philtrum became longer.) There was also a reason I decided on removal just 7 days after surgery. Because the septal cartilage and ear cartilage used in my first surgery 1 year and 6 months ago were used as they were, there was almost no damage inside the nose, and the swelling was not severe. Above all, compared with my previous surgical nose, only the length and height had been lowered, so it actually looked stranger than my natural nose. In this state, I thought the second revision surgery had also failed, and I made up my mind to have early removal in the second week. I no longer wanted to have anything done in Seoul, so the next day I immediately called every plastic surgery clinic in the area where I live. Among them, two said early removal was possible, and one proposed a solution, so I had surgery there. I am currently on day 7 after nose removal. On days 1-2, the nasal tip looked lifted because of the nasal packing, but from day 3 onward there was only swelling around the glabella area, and the nasal tip lift disappeared. Now on day 7, the columella has also come down like my original nose, and thanks to the director refining both sides of the nasal bridge, I have a natural contour that is somewhere between my natural nose and my silicone nose, so I am very satisfied. I removed only the silicone and left the septal support strut as it was. In response to my request to improve the shortened length of the nasal tip, the director did not remove the ear cartilage, but repositioned it under the nasal tip and additionally harvested ear cartilage to extend the length. Thanks to that, my nose shape became better than my natural nose. Above all, because the silicone was removed, the most reassuring thing is that I am free from contracture. In conclusion, I think I essentially had “silicone removal and cartilage repositioning” surgery, not total removal. I have advice I really want to give to people who are struggling because of nose surgery. Before deciding on revision surgery, it is important to take good care of your state of mind. I also received revision-surgery consultations while both my body and mind were exhausted, and if I had been in a sound mental state, I would not have had revision surgery at the Apgujeong removal clinic in the first place. Especially for revision surgery, I hope you choose even more carefully and do not rush. And if you originally have some nasal bridge height, please do not be too afraid of removing nasal silicone. From my own experience, if you have surgery at a proper clinic, it does not become strange at all to the point where you would feel a sense of loss. Lastly, I am currently on day 7 and very satisfied. I hope this review is of even a little help to those considering nose surgery or nose removal.
