First of all, I had my first surgery about 12 years ago, and if I do it this time, it’ll be my second surgery. I had my hump shaved down, osteotomy, silicone in the nasal bridge, and only septal cartilage used for the nasal tip. But yesterday, while going around for revision rhinoplasty consultations for the first time, I learned a lot of things I hadn’t known lol The silicone in my nasal bridge has rotated to the side, making my nose look crooked (they said my nasal bones themselves aren’t crooked), my skin is thin so there’s some nasal tip cartilage? visibility (I didn’t even know my skin was thin or that cartilage was showing lol), but they also said my nasal skin stretches well. They said my septum has collapsed, so I need reconstruction, and there’s a perforation toward the back of my nose, so they’d have to be careful during surgery. And they also said my nostrils are dragon-nose nostrils! Wow. I don’t know if I’m just insensitive or bad at noticing things, but there were so many things I didn’t know lolol 1. Clinic 1 (ㅂㄱㅇ) First, based on this community’s premium reputation, the rating was 4.6, they’re good with aftercare, kind, and all the reviews were good. But one thing that bothered me was that there were reviews with the same content under different IDs. This clinic has a YouTube channel too, so I watched all the nose-related videos before going. The consultation was long, about an hour. They told me I had a perforation and said I also needed septal reconstruction using autologous costal cartilage. It’s general anesthesia, and they said there is a separate anesthesiology specialist director. Surgery time is about four hours? They showed me expected post-op photos while Photoshopping? the pictures. They said I have about 2.5 mm silicone in there, but since it’s crooked, they would lower the starting point of the nasal bridge with slightly thinner silicone, and that they probably couldn’t raise the nasal tip as much as I want. Because the nose I want doesn’t match my face. I want to lower the bridge more more more and raise the tip more more more, so they even showed me a photo of what it would look like with the silicone removed completely, trying to match it as much as possible. And they took an X-ray to see if I could use autologous costal cartilage, and said my autologous costal cartilage isn’t calcified and is a solid bone type, so my bone is thicker than most men’s lol, and said that was good lol They said it seems like it’s the thickest among women lol I didn’t even bring up the nostril sill, but they first suggested lowering the nostril sill. They didn’t say they would lower it with ear cartilage, just that they would pull it down. They also suggested lowering the columella slightly in a rounded way. They said the location of the existing scar under my nose isn’t good, so I think they said they’d make the incision in a new place. The price was 9.9 million won, 8 million won if I provide photos. 2. Clinic 2 (ㅊㅎㅅ) Premium reputation rating 4.2, and there weren’t many reviews, so there weren’t any particularly bad ones. This clinic itself only does noses. They said they don’t do eyes, only noses and fat grafting. They said to raise the drooping columella, lower the nostril sill with ear cartilage, and that there is silicone in there, which is 4 mm, so they would change it to 2 mm. And they said the silicone rotated sideways because something protruding from my nasal bone caught it, so they would trim it a bit. They said it seems the hump wasn’t trimmed enough? This was the only place that didn’t mention the perforation at the back of my nose. The price is 8.8 million won. If I send photos 9 times and write 5 reviews, 7.7 million won. If I book today, 6.8 million won. If I decide within this month, 7 million won. But here, the director consultation was over in 10 minutes, and it felt kind of careless, so I didn’t like it. It didn’t even last 10 minutes, but they charged a 10,000 won consultation fee. Oh, and here they do both donated costal cartilage and autologous costal cartilage, but somehow the consultant sounded like she preferred donated costal cartilage. This was the only place with quite a few clients in the lobby? There were about three groups. While waiting, I saw a woman coming out after rhinoplasty and a Japanese woman going in for the next rhinoplasty. Maybe they gave my consultation carelessly because they were busy doing surgeries. There were other consultation patients before and after me too. After finishing one surgery and before going into the next surgery, they gave consultations to at least 3 people. 3. Clinic 3 (single director) Premium rating 4.6. It said it was a 4-year-old clinic, but when I asked the consultant, she said it’s the 6th year and that they had relocated once. There weren’t many premium reputation reviews. Was it four? They were all good reviews. Here, they suggested custom-made silicone and completely lowering the starting point of the nasal bridge. For the first time, they suggested using wider silicone, 10.5 mm. For lowering the nostril sill, they said lowering + ear cartilage + reinforcing it with some kind of membrane from the ear. They said there’s a possibility that during my first surgery, the nasal tip was tied, and it gradually went up, making it a dragon nose. This was the first place that mentioned the possibility of nasal tip visibility. They said they would use autologous costal cartilage, and on top of that, ear cartilage + costal fascia. They said there would be no change to the columella or nasolabial angle. Aftercare for 3 years. Sedation anesthesia, 3 to 3.5 hours. Cost is 9.8 million + 800,000 won for customized silicone. If I partially disclose photos, total 7.8 million won. The consultation here also seemed to be about an hour. 4. Clinic 4 (ㅅㅅㅈ) Premium rating 3.7. There were lots of reviews about crookedness and the director lol. Quite a few bad reviews saying the director is blunt, has no aesthetic sense, and doesn’t match the face harmoniously. Even so, someone here had a nose that was so my style, so I went for a consultation. They said to lower the starting point of the nasal bridge and change the angle. I brought up wide silicone, and they agreed to do it. When I asked if they don’t do custom-made silicone, the consultant said they don’t because custom-made silicone can be made a bit thick. Lowering the nostril sill is lowering the nostril sill + ear cartilage. Columella reconstruction, septal reconstruction, correcting crooked nose and nostril asymmetry, and when I brought up the scar under the nose too, at first they said to cut through the existing one, but after looking a few more times, they said to do it in a new place. When I asked if adding ear cartilage while lowering the nostril sill wouldn’t make my nose bulky, they said my nose has a very low possibility of becoming a bulbous nose, and because of concern about nasal visibility, they would add ear cartilage + ear dermis so it doesn’t become too pointy. Aftercare 1 year. The nose I want is Hwa Min’s nose, but they said that person has a rather flat face so that nose suits them, and because my face is more convex, Shin Se-kyung’s nose actually suits me better. They said they can’t lower my nasal bridge as much as Hwa Min’s. They printed out a side-view photo of me and drew on it for me. Sedation anesthesia over 3 hours. CCTV stored for one month. Cost is 9.35 million won, 7.8 million won if writing a review. There was a 10,000 won consultation fee. Clinic 2 is out. The other three were all fine, so I’m more torn Right now I think I’m leaning toward Clinic 3 or Clinic 4. But next week I’m going to make time for just one more day and consult at other places too.. Since this is a revision surgery and I want it to be my last surgery, carefully,, +I just narrowed down four more places: Clinic 5 ㄱㄱㅎ Clinic 6 ㄱㅎㅈ Clinic 7 ㅇㅈㅎ Clinic 8 ㄱㄷㅇ I’m going to book consultations at these four places like this.
Clinics mentioned
연어어 We overlap on 3 and 4 lol The reason I’m torn about 4 is the same, so it’s hilarious
밍키곤듀 [@Salmon] Oh really? lololol 4 has bad premium reputation, but someone here had a nose that was totally my style, so I went for a consultation, and the consultation was exactly what I wanted too… I’m seriously torn
안바나나 You really go to a lot of consultations,, I only picked 2 places for my list, but seeing this makes me wonder if I should go to more,, I’m looking into Miho and Clinic 3. How was Clinic 3’s director’s consultation style?? About how long did you wait??
밍키곤듀 [@Anbanana] Among the four places I went to, Clinic 2 had a wait of over an hour and the consultation was over in 10 minutes. The others had almost no wait, or at most about 15 minutes, I think, and the consultations were about an hour.
