Ever since I was young, my snaggletooth + protruding mouth were such a big complex for me, so I got orthodontic treatment. After getting braces, my mouth definitely became less protruded and my teeth became straighter, so whereas before I used to cover my mouth every time I smiled, now the biggest advantage seems to be that I can smile with confidence. The downside is that it is hard to manage, and for people whose mouth protruded a lot, the mouth can move inward during orthodontic treatment, which may cause nasolabial folds.
