Double-Jaw Surgery Reviews

8-Month Review After Two-Jaw Surgery Combined With Facial Contouring

Since I was young, I had severe malocclusion and a protruding lower jaw, so I had been under a lot of stress about my appearance. At first, my parents strongly felt that two-jaw surgery was a dangerous surgery, so I even visited dental clinics wondering whether it could be solved with orthodontic treatment alone, but I was diagnosed that in my case, orthodontics alone would have almost no effect and surgery was definitely necessary. Time passed like that, and as my self-esteem kept getting lower, I eventually persuaded my parents to at least go for a consultation, so we visited an oral and maxillofacial surgery clinic The decisive reason I began seriously considering surgery was my consultation with Director Kim Jong-yoon. I looked up many hospitals online and read countless reviews, but among them, the reviews for that oral and maxillofacial surgery clinic felt especially trustworthy, and through YouTube videos and patient communities, I became more and more interested. Finally!! When I visited the hospital in person and had the consultation, Director Kim Jong-yoon calmly and carefully explained my condition, and he realistically addressed my concerns about surgery as well, so that sense of trust was conveyed to my parents too Honestly, I had planned to list several hospitals and get consultations at each one, but right after the consultation there, I no longer felt the need to go to or compare any other hospital, and I immediately decided on the orthodontic and surgery schedule!! Now it is already hard to believe that 8 months have passed since I had two-jaw surgery and facial contouring surgery. Time has gone by so fast In the early period after surgery, the area around my cheeks felt numb and tingling, and the sensation in my jaw was dull, but now when I touch it with my hand, it feels like my own skin, and the sensation of water flowing is also coming back. Wearing the wafer was comfortable at first, but as time went on, my teeth started hurting, so I worried whether I was biting down too tightly. I also felt like my swelling was going down more slowly than other people’s, so my face felt puffy, but I knew that recovery speed differs from person to person, so I decided to wait. At 2 months, except for one side of my nose getting blocked when I lay down, I was able to go about daily life without major discomfort, and because of facial swelling and a double chin, I hesitated to take photos. But as I started dieting and doing aerobic exercise, I began to see small changes, so I remember trying to think positively!! At 3 months, I still had a tight feeling at the tip of my chin, rhinitis symptoms, and unclear pronunciation of the Korean “s” sound, but as I practiced speaking clearly, it was improving, and there was such a big change that people around me even said my voice seemed to have changed. I was able to eat most foods without any problems!! At 4 months, the right side of my jaw had become much softer, and only the left side still had a slight pulling sensation. My pronunciation had also noticeably improved, there were no restrictions on eating, and as I slowly lost weight, the swelling was also going down naturally, but I still had residual swelling and a double chin, so I combined it with exercise!! At 5 months, I was doing well without any discomfort in daily life, and I kept going to the gym with the hope that only the cheeks that looked like I was holding candy in my mouth and the remaining double-chin swelling would go down more. At 6 months, some tingling remained in my jaw, but the numb feeling was gradually decreasing, and overall my recovery was going smoothly. I also hoped my orthodontic treatment would finish quickly. At 7 months, the numbness on the right side of my jaw was gradually decreasing, and the left side still had a pulling sensation, but overall it was getting better. Now at 8 months, a heavy sensation still remains in the right side of my jaw, but I am doing well without major discomfort, and I really feel that time is the best medicine as I wait for recovery slowly. Just having the protruding lower jaw and malocclusion that stressed me before surgery improved has raised my self-esteem, and because I had two-jaw surgery and facial contouring surgery together, my facial balance has become more natural too. In the end, I am extremely satisfied, and as I see myself changing more over time, I really think I made the right choice getting the surgery!!

This review is a surgery review pursuing a natural look.
