Hello In January, I had two-jaw surgery and three types of facial contouring surgery (cheekbones, square jaw, chin) at Y Oral and Maxillofacial Clinic, and now it has been 6 months! Before surgery, after I first became aware of my facial asymmetry in high school, at first it was only to the point where I thought, “Is it a little misaligned?” But once my growth stopped and my facial shape settled, the difference between the left and right sides gradually became more noticeable. Especially how I looked in photos was so stressful. When I smiled, only one side would lift, or my jawline would look tilted, so I started hating being photographed. If someone took a photo without saying anything, I would react sensitively, and I came to dislike my face more and more. I tried various methods, such as massages to improve asymmetry and correction at a Korean medicine clinic, but it would seem to improve and then keep going back, so in the end I decided to have two-jaw surgery. The recovery process after surgery was not easy, but now that I’m 6 months post-op, most of the swelling has gone down and my facial contours have settled well. The asymmetry has improved to the point where it’s barely noticeable, and my cheekbone line has also been smoothed out nicely, so I like both my front and side profile! I have no discomfort in daily life either! Now I can chew almost all foods well too. Before, I paid so much attention to my face angle when taking selfies, but now my face looks balanced even without turning my face or tilting my head, so it’s much more comfortable haha These days, taking photos is no longer stressful, and I’ve actually come to enjoy it. Also, I can smile naturally without worrying about my face! People around me notice a lot too. They can’t exactly tell that I had surgery, but I often hear nice things like my facial line looks much more defined, my face got smaller, and I became really pretty. Every time I hear things like that, I feel so proud that I endured the difficult recovery period and had the surgery haha Actually, right after surgery it was really hard, and the recovery process wasn’t simply easy. But now I think it was truly a worthwhile decision!!!
