Before surgery, my cheekbones were a bit prominent, so my face looked wide. Even when taking selfies, they stood out more when I smiled, so it bothered me.. It took me a lot of thought before deciding to have surgery. I worried, what if it looks obvious, what if I regret it, but in the end, I’m fairly satisfied now. As my cheekbones became less prominent, my facial shape softened, and I think my face overall looks less overwhelming than before. However, for the first few weeks, the swelling and bruising bothered me quite a bit, and the swelling doesn’t go down all at once; it seems to keep decreasing little by little over the course of a year. It took more than a month before I looked in the mirror and thought, ‘It’s okay.’
