Double-Jaw Surgery Reviews

4 months after double-jaw surgery! Changes in mouth opening/swelling/cheekbone line…

My side cheekbones and 45-degree cheekbones had always been a complex, and they looked even more prominent in photos, so I decided to have surgery. I saw the doctor’s video about cheekbone surgery on YouTube, and since it was an oral and maxillofacial surgery clinic, I chose it thinking it might be more specialized. This is an honest recovery review after double-jaw surgery, including throat pain after anesthesia, swelling, bruising, and eating discomfort! In the early stage after surgery, I managed it with cold compresses, and from day 5 I started swelling care with warm compresses and light walks. I wore the compression band while gradually reducing the time, and around one week, even though mouth opening was uncomfortable, I was recovering while getting nutrition with porridge! The bruising around my eyes gradually faded to yellow. Week 2 At 2 weeks after double-jaw surgery, the swelling and bruising had almost disappeared, and recovery was going smoothly! I returned to work from day 10, and it didn’t show at all, so people around me didn’t know I had surgery. On day 14, I even finished removing the intraoral stitches! It pulled a little, but it was over quickly. After stitch removal, brushing my teeth became easier, and I could eat food a little more comfortably. If you’re curious about natural recovery and returning to daily life, definitely use this as reference! Weeks 3~4 Week 3 After stitch removal at week 2 after double-jaw surgery, for 3~4 days it felt like the swelling in the front cheeks and inside the mouth came back up again. I was worried about inflammation, so I brushed my teeth more thoroughly, and since my mouth still didn’t open well, I was eating mostly noodles. Hard foods are still difficult, but recovery is going smoothly, and daily life has become possible. In particular, the side cheekbone line has definitely been refined, so when I wear a hat, my face shape looks much cleaner!! haha I feel so good! Around one month, the areas where the stitches were removed were still a bit bumpy, but I thought of it as part of the recovery process and managed it with compresses. It’s hard to open my mouth wide, but my chewing strength has definitely improved, so I’m cutting food into small pieces and gradually adapting! Since I’m eating well, the weight I lost has come back, and fortunately my cheeks are settling naturally without sagging! The skin around the sideburn area is thin, so I can feel the pins, but thinking that it will become more comfortable after pin removal made me look forward to it! At two months, the bumpiness and sensory abnormality at the gum incision site completely disappeared, and it recovered to normal! About 70~80% of the swelling went down, and mouth opening became as natural as before surgery, so there’s no discomfort with eating at all. My chewing strength also came back, and being able to freely eat all foods is the biggest change! Especially as the side cheekbones went in, my facial contour became much softer and more natural, so my satisfaction is high. However, I can feel the pins near the sideburns, which is slightly bothersome, but thinking it will become more comfortable with pin removal surgery makes me look forward to it :) After 3~4 months since double-jaw surgery, I feel like I recovered so naturally that I forget I even had surgery. Without swelling or discomfort, I’ve completely returned to my pre-surgery daily life, and chewing and speaking have become comfortable like before. Especially my impression has softened and my face shape looks more refined, so it feels much more natural and stable than before surgery. Because it changed prettily without looking obvious, people around me often say they can’t really tell I had surgery. After going through this whole recovery process and result, surgery is a big decision for anyone, but I’m still satisfied with the choice I made with Director Kim Jong-yoon!
