I went to consultations at about 6 places, and there was one clinic I liked the most. They said I’d need to use autologous costal cartilage for the nasal tip, so even though it would be my first surgery, I said I’d do it.. So I paid the deposit and even had the tests done that day.. blood test, ECG, chest calcification test, etc.~ The next day I called the manager and asked about the results, and well~ they said it had calcified so it couldn’t be used.. And then they said they would substitute it with donated costal cartilage.. So I said, during the consultation you said you’d use autologous costal cartilage, and now what am I supposed to do, I’m canceling.. Then they said the test fee was about 200,000 won and they’d refund me after deducting that. Seriously~~~ I’m wondering whether I should just do it with donated costal cartilage, or ask them to use the calcified autologous costal cartilage.. I need everyone’s opinions!! My surgery is next week already
익명 No... They said they’d operate using calcified autologous costal cartilage? If it’s calcified, that means the cartilage has become hard like bone, and as far as I know, that makes surgery difficult because the doctor can’t manipulate the cartilage. Even if you do it at another clinic, I don’t think there’s any option other than using donated costal cartilage?
끼윱 [@] They said that if the doctor isn’t skilled, it takes a long time too... and that experienced doctors can carve it well and use the parts that can be used.. so I’m also thinking about going to another clinic.. I’m worried because they say even if donated costal cartilage is done in 2 layers, it gets absorbed
익명 I’ve heard that calcified autologous costal cartilage usually isn’t used.. At this point, donated costal cartilage seems to be the only alternative Try going to a clinic that uses donated costal cartilage a lot. There are many places that use whole costal cartilage. And it’s true that donated costal cartilage has a higher absorption rate than autologous costal cartilage, but autologous costal cartilage doesn’t have a zero absorption rate either. If it happens to you, then well, you’ve hit a 100% absorption rate; it really varies completely by person.
