Double-Jaw Surgery Reviews

6 months after double jaw surgery for severe malocclusion!

It has been 6 months since my double jaw surgery. Before surgery, the biggest stress came from my malocclusion and underbite. Because my jaw took up such a large part of my face, I naturally avoided standing in front of a camera. I remember the times when, even if I wanted to pose confidently in front of the camera, I was always busy moving aside because of my jaw. Unlike other people, the degree to which food could be chewed was different because of my malocclusion, so I had to chew more and longer. Because my canines were buckteeth and my front teeth did not touch each other, I could only chew food with my molars, so my jaw muscles developed a bit more than other people’s and my face became asymmetrical. For a long time, I lost a lot of confidence because of my underbite and lived through stressful, depressed days. After much consideration, I decided to have double jaw surgery, and it has now been 6 months since the surgery. With double jaw surgery, the underbite was brought back, and by contouring with two procedures suited to my face shape (square jaw and chin), my face became much smaller. Also, once my malocclusion was corrected, eating became easier. The fact that I can cut food with my front teeth felt awkward and new. Especially when cutting noodles, it feels very good. I am so satisfied that every morning I wake up, look at my newly changed face, and start the day in amazement. People around me also look at my recessed jaw and are surprised, and they seem even more satisfied than I am. Right after surgery, I was overwhelmed by the physical and mental pain that inevitably had to come. It was all pain I could handle, but the hardest part was not being able to chew for 2 weeks. Because all meals were replaced with drinks, I experienced the most intense hunger I had ever felt before. Also, because my mouth was wired shut, I had to endure the inconvenience of not being able to brush my teeth. Since I took the medicine prescribed by the pharmacy, there was almost no pain at the surgical site. I was relieved that the pain was less than I expected. After 2 weeks, when the wired mouth was released, I could eat soft foods like porridge, and from that point on I got through recovery without much difficulty and had an uneventful healing period. Before, it was hard for me simply to show my face to people, so I barely went out, but now I enjoy going out freely without stress. Meeting many people and breathing the outside air seems to have made me brighter. Now that the lifelong complex I carried has been resolved, I finally feel like I can live again.
