I had surgery two years ago with silicone and autologous costal cartilage, and I am going around to different hospitals because I want to remove only the silicone. I heard [Clinic A] recommends a lot of cadaveric dermis, so I went in for a consultation worried, but they said it might be fine to remove only the silicone without using dermis?? Even when they talked about using something, they mentioned autologous dermis... Has anyone only had silicone removal done at [Clinic A]?? At another hospital, they said Megaderm was essential because of a step-off, but here they said I might not need it, so I feel a bit relieved, but also anxious... If they only remove it, could there be major changes to the nose shape besides a step-off and a sense of loss? They did mention septoplasty too! But it did not feel like they were pushing it, and it really felt like they only brought it up because of insurance reimbursement, so I did not feel much resistance!!
