At the first hospital, I had epicanthoplasty and lateral/inferior canthoplasty, and I was extremely dissatisfied, so I underwent secondary canthoplasty reconstruction. They said there was no need to reconstruct the lower canthoplasty since trying to find the threads and remove them would actually leave more scars and cause greater loss, so I didn't proceed with it and only had secondary lateral canthoplasty reconstruction. The reason I had secondary canthoplasty reconstruction was that both the left and right outer corners were overly opened into a D shape. Because of that, it looked aesthetically bad, and functionally it made my dry eye much worse. In fact, the vision in my right eye dropped a lot. After the surgery, it has now been 3 months, and the V shape is maintained fairly well, so I'm generally satisfied, but what I'm unhappy about is that the outer corners of my eyes look lower than they did before I was born. (It can't be helped, but it feels a little lower than before the reconstruction... it looks a bit foolish.) When I look at the before-and-after photos, it seems like this also applies to lateral canthoplasty, but I think it might be a characteristic of the surgery itself, and since it's basically a surgery called lowering the outer corners of the eyes, maybe it could be due to the technique too. The size of my eyes is somewhere between my natural eyes and the size they were after the first lateral canthoplasty surgery. It doesn't feel like they got dramatically smaller, but I'm a bit unhappy that the outer corners have dropped (In the first place, I can never go back to my natural eyes.) If this is something you're worried about, please discuss it thoroughly with the doctor before surgery.
