Since I have some time, I’m going to write a review 1 year and a half after cheekbone surgery.
My face is small and my cheekbones protruded a lot toward the side and back (wide temples/head shape), and I’m the type with no 45-degree cheekbones at all, so I thought about it for about 10 years.
I had consultations at several places (ㄹㅋㅋ, ㄱㄹㅎ, etc.) starting a few years ago, but I was only told it wouldn’t be effective, or to get side-cheek liposuction or hairline transplant even if the effect would be minimal.
I found a hospital said to be good at setting in the side/back cheekbones, booked a consultation, and had surgery. In the end, my satisfaction is about 60%.
That’s because I think I would have done it someday anyway, and because with facial features like mine, I already knew the effect probably wouldn’t be dramatic. That said, it’s not that there was no effect at all; the broad area beside the eyes did decrease a lot. But there’s nothing that can be done about the wide temple area. (I have to keep getting temple Botox.)
I was most worried about sagging cheeks, so I didn’t do square jaw surgery at that time, and I think it was good that I didn’t. Because even though I only shaved the side/back areas, I still got cheek sagging. (The doctor I went to today for a liposuction consultation recognized it right away.) It sags from beside the eyes toward the nasolabial folds. But it’s not enough to make me regret the surgery, and all surgeries require maintenance anyway, so I think it’ll be okay if I get lifting laser and threads once or twice a year.
